The Saints signed undrafted rookie receiver De'Quan Hampton from USC and waived second-year receiver Jordan Williams-Lambert with an injury designation. Hampton is a big receiver who was listed at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds at USC. But he played sparingly, with just 22 catches for 238 yards and two touchdowns in two seasons. … Also, Saints TE John Phillips passed his physical and is now cleared to begin practicing after recovering from appendicitis.

De'Quan Hampton interesting signing.

he is big, strong, athletic, and a solid blocker. Not the fastest WR at 4.66 but he might be worth investing so time on the PS and see what you might make out of him

Hampton stands at 6’3, 223 lbs. He was not invited to the combine after a quiet 2016 but came out strong at his pro day, having something to prove to scouts. In 2016, he recorded 15 receptions for 165 yards after a 2015 season with seven catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns.

Hampton’s pro day results were strong and he caught nearly everything thrown his way.

Bench: 21 reps
Vertical: 41.5 inches
Long jump: 11 feet
40 yard dash: 4.66

Hampton's 41.5 inch vertical would have ranked 4th at the NFL combine (2nd among receivers), his 11 foot broad jump would have ranked 11th (6th among receivers), his 21 bench reps would have placed him 2nd among receivers.

Both of these receivers could bring value as a late round pick, and have potential to progress into contributors at the next level.

If he could be as steady as Colston we hit pay dirt. Colston was great.
