Re: Saints Rookie Marcus Williams Is Flashing Ball-Hawking Skills At Safety
I beat the drum for the kid and was excited when the saints drafted him. I was actually was laughing at the big fat crow I put in the freezer. Think I am not eating this bird. I hope
But like any pick the saints make they have the length of their contract to show they belong on this team. One preseason game is not enough to get too excited. its early yet but things look good so far |

I was pretty damn thrilled about him when I read somewhere soon after the draft that Dan Quinn strongly considered drafting him at the end of the first round to be his new Earl Thomas.

I'm not sure you are clear on how the practice squad actually works. First and foremost the player has to be cut and clear waivers before they can be placed on the practice squad. Second, once a player is on a practice squad, any of the 32 teams in the league can sign the player from the practice squad to their 53 man roster. And finally there are eligibility rules (which I am quoting because of the notion posted elsewhere that Daniel or Nassib should be placed on the PS): From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Practice_squad Quote:
So it's laughable to think that Kamara or Williams can be on the Saints PS where there will be enough tape to show that they are capable of being starters in this league. It's even likely that Muhammad and Hendrickson will have enough tape and positive evaluations at the end of the preseason not to be cut. BTW the Saints somewhat dubious method for redshirting talented draft picks is to put them on IR. It is in fact unclear to me when they've done this exactly how injured the player actually was. But it certainly is a method where you retain the rights of the player without having to carry them on the 53 man roster. But in short, every pro scouting department in the league is reviewing tape of every other organization. Come September 2nd there will be nearly 1200 players, many of whom are draftees, UDFA, and players still eligible for a PS that will be picked up and placed into one of the 320 available PS slots somewhere. But I'd be shocked if any high level draft picks make it there. SFIAH |

That is saying a lot. He is not the hitter Earl is. But the rest of his game is fair to compare to Earl. I think. I can reach on that one ;-) |

As of right now. and can't tell until they actually play and stay relatively healthy, looks like we have hit on at least 4 of our draft picks, maybe 5. That would be amazing. Muhammhed is interesting. He will either be on the team or PS. He has flashed. Hendrickson has been hurt I think. Anz will make the squad. |
