Re: Chase Daniel...
Daniel looked like a competent backup when he was here before. I thought Andy Reid was supposed to be a QB guru, yet it appears he just about ruined Chase. Hopefully he gets back into the swing of things. I know everyone likes to repeat the same line "if Drew goes down, we're screwed anyway", but suppose he just misses a game or two, for whatever reason. Wouldn't you like to see a guy who won't kill you out there?
If our defense is truly improved, then there's no reason to surrender any game because your backup is in the game. Anybody remember the 2000 season? We had a starting QB who, himself, was only decent (Jeff Blake), and then he went down and was replaced by Aaron Brooks. I seem to remember making the playoffs and winning our first ever playoff game. Just because your backup might not be a long term answer doesn't mean that you have to settle for a train wreck. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

If your back up is getting better or pushing for the starters spot I think you need to cut bait and move on at some point just like I have from Greyson.

My point about the 2000 season was toward the crowd who says "who cares about the backup, because we're screwed if Drew goes down". I like to remind those people that all is not lost if you are diligent enough as a franchise to develop a decent enough backup, and your defense is good enough to keep you in it. |

Re: Chase Daniel...
He looked disinterested to me. He's gotten paid. It's a preseason game. He knows he's the backup. I personally believe the Saints will have a fighters chance with him at QB if Brees goes down. That's all you can hope for. Especially if the defense continues to shine.
