New Orleans Saints signing former Vikings fullback Zach Line

New Orleans Saints running back Adrian Peterson will soon see a familiar face in the locker room.

Fullback Zach Line, who spent the past four seasons with Peterson on the Minnesota Vikings, agreed to a deal with the Saints on Wednesday, according to his agent Mike McCartney.

Line worked out for the Saints after practice Wednesday and clearly impressed. Although he's a fullback now, Line was an exceptional college tailback as he ran for at least 1,200 yards each year from 2010-12 at Southern Methodist.

The 27-year-old Line remained unsigned this offseason as he recovered from a hip injury, but he'll now look to make an impact for the Saints on offense and special teams.

Somebody has to blocking dummy for all these horses we have in the backfield.

Interesting. I would love to see some games where we power run then mop up tired defenses with kill shots in the second half and our fresh defense.

I'd like to see him play running back with Kuhn at fullback from time to time.

Not sure how they could keep both.

I know this may sound completely crazy, but something tells me Ingram could possibly be trade bait. Kamara looks like the real thing, he and Peterson could handle the bulk of the snaps, keep two fullbacks, and maybe Lasco and/or Cadet as reserves, there you go.

Love Kuhn. But, he's been nicked up. Could be just a favor to AP. Or the Saints could have a younger more versatile version of Kuhn.

I just wanted to chime in...

It sounds completely crazy.

What could we possible get for Ingraham that would be worth it?

Would the Giants be willing to part with one of their defensive pieces? Then again....he'd make that team both balanced and dangerous.

Other than Landon Collins, who'd you'd want?

I think they're bringing in competition for Khun. No way we get rid of Ingram. He's younger, more versatile and has more tread left than Peterson.

Why would we trade Ingram and rely on Peterson with his recent injury history?

Shhhh Bryan Braman is s sneaky signing. Special teams beast.

Line is strictly a blocking back. As much as the Vikings running game struggled last year, if he was any good at running he would have gotten some carries other than the obligatory fullback bone.

If we traded Ingram I would lose all faith this year. So many teams are struggling in this area. We are one of the only ones that have it right now; Younger stud, Older stud and a young stud with some reserve on tap. Go ahead and stack the box. We got something for that as well.

Exactly! This is a head to head between Line and Kuhn. I think it's only a section of the NO fanbase that has no clue as to what we have in Ingram. I'd bet you a six pack of Abita's that there're teams out there with their noses pressed against the window wishing for a chance at him. (Except I'd end up drinking it before it ever got to you... Should I lose.)

I wouldn't mind seeing some packages with Kamara and Edmands in it. I think Cadets days in a Saints uniform are done. Edmands and ( can't think of the little guys name) but both have been impressive so far.

Darius Victor looks like a better runner than Lasco.

I wouldn't be hurt if they traded Ingram to get a defensive stud. I've got nothing against Ingram. He's turned into a really good RB. But I don't think his value is going to get any higher. Ingram's touches/game have been going down the last couple years anyway. And with Peterson and Kamara in the backfield, he's probably gonna lose a few more. Either way, Peterson isn't going to last so the team is going to be looking for an RB again soon anyway. I wouldn't mind seeing a sacrifice on the offense to help build a defense.

Just my 2¢.

If Lasco or Victor was tearing it up like the next Chris Ivory, I'd say we could look into moving Ingram. If they are only average, best to hang onto our AP and Ingram tandem.

Another missed opportunity by the Mickster; maybe last year, but not with all the horses we have now - like that we can attack with different personnel in different subpackages...
