I think Carr is more than a stop-gap, though. What I saw is great hands, quick in short spaces, decent size/athleticism. Doesn't have much straight-line, break-away speed (4.6), but just gets open. I like him.

That sounds an awful lot like a description of Willie Snead. Didn't Snead run a 4.6 too?
