Saints place Delvin Breaux on injured reserve; could return midseason
 

The New Orleans Saints placed cornerback Delvin Breaux on injured reserve Monday as he recovers from a broken fibula, meaning he will miss at least the first seven games.

NFL teams are allowed to bring back up to two players who are placed on injured reserve during the season. But they can’t practice for a minimum of six weeks and can’t play for a minimum of eight weeks. The Saints have a bye in Week 5.

The Saints re-signed veteran offensive tackle Bryce Harris to fill Breaux’s roster spot.

The Saints also added defensive tackle David Parry to their practice squad Monday after he spent the past two years as a starter for the Indianapolis Colts.

Parry (6-foot-2, 317 pounds) was a fifth-round draft pick out of Stanford in 2015, and he started every game over the past two years, with a total of 78 tackles and four sacks.

I thought Breaux would be one of our best. I know he's frustrated but he needs to keep his mouth shut no more than ever or he won't make it back in Week 9 and coach will see to that!

Rather have them now rather than later. If players are going to miss games the first quarter of the season ain't the time to do it.

I think you missed the point by about this much:

The point is that coming back midseason doesn't necessarily doom an organization.

The secondary point is that the depth is going to be just that much better because they are going to get some real game action.

Final point is that the critical games this season are going to be in December (4 out of 6 division games), January (playoffs), and hopefully February (well, you know...). Having healthy players then is going to be critical.

I'd point out, Brady wasn't injured, he was suspended, and while he wasn't able to practice with the Pats, he was game ready: he had gone through OTAs, camp, preseason, and most likely he worked out on his own during the suspension.
