Re: Saints records after winning/losing the first game under Payton/Brees
It is critical that the Saints get off to a good start. I believe the Vikings game is very important, winning that game will give the team much needed momentum, especially with so many young players in the line up.

Starting off in a hole is never good, obviously, but a team can rebound easier from 0-1. You really don't get out of that hole until 3-1...it gives you at least 2 games to stay above or at .500. Any team at any time can lay a turd, so losing that 5th game at least gives the coaching staff 1 game to make adjustments since a team can lay a turd or play a red-hot team for 2 games.
I'd prefer 16-0, but realisticly it's better to get red-hot in Nov & Dec rolling into the playoffs. |

So... now that we have a loss under our belt, based on history where does that leave us, 7-9 perhaps? We show one winning season 13-3.

Re: Saints records after winning/losing the first game under Payton/Brees
7-9 If we have no significant injuries.

Re: Saints records after winning/losing the first game under Payton/Brees
With this offensive line, and no pass rush, looks like 7-9 may be optimistic.

The Patriots are about to avenge their first loss -- on the Saints.
This will not be pretty. |
