Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
He's doing alright... no defense for either team.
CB Butler getting beat like a drum. Thank God we did not trade for him. |
Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
Pats are going to be rested and angry when they play us next weekend.

Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
I was rather opposed to the trade idea, as well. Didn't buy into the hype, and have seen way too many players (at any position) leave the Patriots and have far less success, often times becoming total busts.
That didn't mean that Butler couldn't have possibly been an exception, but I didn't like the odds. Particularly, in Butler's case, the coverage schemes they run would seem to assist in his overall grade. Which is why I think so little of sites like PFF, and their robotic grading systems. I think our corners will do pretty well this year, provided they stay healthy. But the latter is always essential, is it not? |
Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
He did ok but they got the same thing we got out of him; field stretcher. Have to bring something else to the table besides that as a WR1. He also got pushed around at times which I knew would happen. All I know is I started Hunt and benched Crowder tonight. Insane what that rookie did to the Pats.
Dude killed it. |
Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
The best thing that came from trading Brandin Cooks is not getting Malcolm Butler and a big cap hit but getting R.R and a rookie contract ;)

Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
Now all the pundits are saying the Patriots are going to kill us. Well, not so fast. We have a top 5 offense that will crush the Patriots. I mean look what Alex Smith did with a whole bunch of no name receivers. Our defense will be good enough to hold them to 17 points. 35-17 Saints and we still beat the Vikings 27-3.
All that 16-0 crap is gone and the anointing is over! wooooohooooooo |

Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
Gotta tell ya... I'm really not scared of the Patriots at all.

Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
The Chiefs are good. I fully expect the Patriots to bounce back. But, Brady looked 40 last night and their defense didn't look good. The Saints REALLY need to beat the Vikings though. 1-1 at worst. But, a legit shot at being 2-0.

Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
Brandin looked pretty decent (see penalties drawn against him) vs KC last night. He'll have good games & also have those where he's extremely quiet. Not all that impressive with route running or YAK (yards after the catch).
Side note - the Pats defense was very suspect. Especially after Dante' injury. I like our chances in two weeks. |
Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
Chiefs got quite a few critical stops. Even with that the Pats still put up lots of points but they are in bad shape right now WR wise.
|
Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
Anyone notice Cooks duck out of a hit on the sideline, I believe on his first catch? To me he could have easily gained another few yards (& that drive stalled on a missed 4th & short). It just didn't sit well with me, and I'd bet it didn't with a lot of their players either. You don't see Edelman and Amendola ducking out like that.

Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
Cook and tom are close to being on the same page.

We had two tough matchups to start the season regardless of what happened the week before. DO YOUR JOB

Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
I didn't watch the whole game. But the Patriots were able to move the ball well and their defense looked stout. They let the game get away from them. They looked dominant at times and should have another Super bowl run.jmho
We can beat them at home if our defense doesn't make too many mistakes like young teams tend to do. |
Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
To me, it looked like when Hightower went out and they cut to commercial, Pats & KC went into the locker room and switched unis...
|
Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
How did NE's defense look stout exactly? Brees at home should destroy that secondary.

Are the Patriots that bad or is KC that good. Man did they look bad.

Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
That Tyrek Hill is a beast, too fast to catch, too small to see
|
Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
On any given Sunday its who takes it too the field ... The Pat's looked slow Thursday night, except Cooks and that CB who ran down Hill on the sideline run 4th qtr. But especially late 3rd early 4th quarter the whole team looked to be gassed when compared to the speed of play for both KC's offense and defense.
I think the youth movement in our defense with its speed of play will surprise people this year. Mistakes will be made adjustments necessay but it will they will be able to disrupt even the most disciplined offenses. Brady spent the 4th quarter on his back. |
Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
The league will take notice after the Vikings game. 27-3 SAINTS!

Re: Cooks' Play Tonight for the Pats
Pats get embarrassed at home on Opening Day game and Brandin Cooks is coming back to New Orleans?
Week 2 just got even more interesting... Curious is this in the Saints' forum just because of Cooks? |
