I do too, but the experts pointed to his exceptional special teams play as the reason he made this team.

The combo of shining as a RB as well as excelling at ST's made it a no brainer for the staff to keep him as a 4th RB.

What did he do on special teams? I don't recall seeing him do anything there, but I sure have seen it from Lasco. Sometimes it seems like the Saints just say things to make themselves feel better about their decisions.

If not, there must be a big difference in what Edmunds does in practice vs. what I saw of him in games. I do prefer him as a runner over Lasco, any day. Just a bit surprised they think he's better than Lasco on special teams.

It's just what I've heard about him from several sources. They could be wrong

No. I kept reading the same thing from totally different resources. Here are three different snippets. There are many more same the same sort of things about Edmunds.

Rookie third-round pick Alvin Kamara will play a significant role in the passing game, and undrafted rookie Trey Edmunds secured a spot through special teams, which is why the Saints felt comfortable cutting Lasco.

Spending four years, including one as a redshirt, at Virginia Tech, Edmunds came to the Saints with plenty of special teams experience. The Hokies take pride in Beamer Ball, a term named after longtime coach Frank Beamer because of the team's consistent special teams prowess.

Payton said he also kept undrafted rookie running back Trey Edmunds on the roster because ”he was exceptional” on special teams.

I was more just wondering "out loud" what the Saints think is so terrific about his special teams play. Wasn't doubting you that that's what Payton said.

I just didn't notice him on special teams. I didn't watch every play, by any means, this preseason, but I saw a fair bit and read plenty, and hadn't really come across anything praising his ST play. I guess he was fundamentally sound in his assignments, though not necessarily making the tackles... Or something along those lines.
