New Orleans defense harasses Cam Newton to give Saints first win
BY JOEL A. ERICKSON CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Cam Jordan couldn't take it anymore. On a day when everyone wanted to ask about the Saints' decision to participate in a league-wide protest stemming from President Donald Trump's comments on Friday, Jordan spent several minutes explaining his motives, his method and why he sat for the national anthem. But he could only take it so long before excitement bubbled over about the way the New Orleans defense responded to two weeks of embarrassment by harassing, hitting and befuddling Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in a 34-13 win over an NFC South rival that sent the Saints into London on a high note. "Anyone want to talk about the game?" Jordan yelled. "We won the game! There was a sack! There were seven tackles! My defense was balling! My young dogs were eating!" New Orleans (1-2) sacked Newton four times, hit him five more and forced three interceptions, a physical performance that looked light years better than the Saints' dismal performances in blowout losses to Minnesota and New England to open the season. An overhauled defense that entered this season with a stockpile of unproven young talent and a rising swell of optimism found itself under fire, and Carolina's balanced offense represented another test. "Yeah, we took it as motivation," linebacker A.J. Klein said. "We gave up 400-plus yards in two games, we didn't create turnovers. We were challenged." "Pound Cam and watch him fold" That is the scouting report on him. |
Re: New Orleans defense harasses Cam Newton
It helps what the QB has a bad shoulder and was missing his star TE, WR and Center.
____________ BUT THE QUESTION OF THE DAY WAS.... what did George Soros paid the NFL to make people sit down for the national anthem. https://i0.wp.com/www.stalkerzone.or...?fit=300%2C190 http://iruntheinternet.com/lulzdump/...092425.gif?id= http://www.wfmynews2.com/img/resize/...preset=534-401 |

I really like Crawleys play, I have been high on him since last year. PJ Williams INT thou might have been the best play of the night thou. It really looked like he knew that it was coming. Kinda like Porter vs Manning. |
Re: New Orleans defense harasses Cam Newton
Crawley and Lattimore should be our 1/2 corners with PJ in the slot...

That would be two starting 1/2 corners which means that the position is covered only 1/4. That is what we have had for years. FIRE PAYTON! ;) |
Re: New Orleans defense harasses Cam Newton
The stars all lined up for us. Funchess also did next to nothing. Cam had nobody to throw to except a RB. Olson was a big part of what they do. Going to take weeks to regroup without him.

1) first INT was an overthrow that got tipped by a Saints safety and intercepted 2) second INT Cam was forcing the ball into a receiver with defenders all around Cam's missing receivers was offset by the Saints injured and missing depth in the defensive backfield. The Saints reshuffled and took lemons in the defensive backfield and made lemonade. Carolina had receivers but Cam Newton was only into the game so far as he could do the "first down" gesture he did. I think his welcome in Carolina is getting shorter. I think Carolina ran against their first challenge of the season and the Saints awakened and dominated. I don't think the stars lined up - we're simply a better football team by a large margin than Carolina right now, and it showed yesterday. |
Re: New Orleans defense harasses Cam Newton
Where has Crawley been the first two games again?!

Re: New Orleans defense harasses Cam Newton
Halo, did you miss the first one by PJ? That was a beauty where he just read the play and went and got the ball.
