Re: Saints Defensive stats after week 4
The numbers are skewed by the first two games when our D just didn't show up. Based on the last two games we would have one of the top 5 D's in almost every category but fumble recoveries.
The biggest question is which two games will be reflective of our play for the rest of the season. They all won't be as good as the last two. Let's just hope we don't have ANY more like the first two. |

I look at stats when its a high scoring game but when you shut out a team in gown man football this day in age sure speeks volumes.
Even in the age you cran save face at the end of a game getting junk points and junk yards... its preey impressive no matter who you play against. |
Re: Saints Defensive stats after week 4
It's why nobody is sold on us. I'm not hating. The thing I think they're missing is our youth and the talent we have. Once we start playing as a unit, which we can see happening before our very eyes, the numbers are going to get better and people will notice. Stay the course.

Over the last two games the Saints defense has allowed...vs league average for the season Total Yards/game - 237 - 1st Points/game - 6.5 - 1st Passing yards/game - 160 - 3rd Rushing yards/game - 95 - 15th Yards/att passing - 5.2 - 1st Yards/att rushing - 5.1 - 31st Sacks per game - 4 - 2nd Obviously, the Saints played two rushing oriented offenses and the yards/attempt still sucks. Luckily, the flow of the games mandated the teams abandon the run and work through the air which played to the strength of the defense. Again, this is just cherry picking for fun. The Saints played two terrible offenses. But it's better to look good against terrible offenses than look bad. As far as turnovers, for the season... There are 6 teams left that haven't recovered a fumble. The Saints are in a seven way tie for 6th in the league with 4 interceptions. The Saints are the only team that hasn't turned the ball over so far this season. The Saints are still in the bottom half of the league in total take aways. Putting us in a 3 way tie for 4th with a +4 turnover differential. |

Winning the turnover battle ... that's a good way to ensure a post season ticket. Trending upward. Keep grinding. Edit - that 2009 SB winning team ranked third in the turnover diff category. http://www.footballdb.com/stats/turnovers.html?yr=2009 |

So we
Still blow, but at least I see more of a ceiling this season |
Re: Saints Defensive stats after week 4
Carolina is NOT an awful offensive team....miami I beg to differ but they have one hell of a run-game....I will def give the saints credit over the past 2 weeks...they have looked way better.
