On To The Lions

I read today that Stafford has a sprained ankle AND a tweaked hammy.

I'm not to proud. I hope he has to play hurt (or not at all)...

He's probably gonna play. But if he can't, they'll sign another QB this week. I know one thing...if he doesn't play, their backup has ZERO snaps in his NFL career.

Re: On To The Lions

If he plays he must go down hard and often.

50 bucks for the first kill me shot?

Screw that. He sits and we will get scorched and make their backup look like Manning. We are horrible against backups and rookies lately.

Bad matchup. A gunslinging QB. A defensive line that brings the heat. Lions by 8.

Is that so? The last rookie/backup the Saints faced was Jarod Goff last season and the Saints held him to 214 yards passing, sacked him three times and picked him off once. Saints won 27-13.

Before that the most recent was Denver and Trevor Siemian who was sacked SIX times and picked off twice. We lost that one on the blocked extra point return for two.

I don't think we have faced any others since those two last year.

Highland Park is injured a lot but somehow he still makes plays on Sunday. I'd blitz early and often. Slap him around & re aggravate something. Often times he's a beast when injured.

Dome needs to be rocking & players on both sides of the ball on their A game ... bring it.

Jake Rudock is their backup QB... Who the hell is that?!?!

Stafford will be playing on Sunday ... even if it's on one leg.

He's about as tough as they come at the position.

You took the words outta my mouth. Stafford is one tough cookie, one of the reasons I like him so much. Which reminds me, we had a Detroit fan on our forum for a while a few years ago...can't remember his name offhand. He was a positive contributor to this forum, but I can't recall seeing him on here in a while...

Re: On To The Lions

He's playing. Very seldom is a starting QB benched for sprains. If he practices this week, even limited he will be out there.

Advantage for us would be poor mobility. Probably see more blitzing just to make those injuries stew around.

Re: On To The Lions

Hit him early and often. He's tough but he is human and can only take so many beatings before he gets gun shy.

Yep, SloMotion. Good guy, always pleasant to talk to and has great insight. He's probably traveling the world as we speak.

Say hello to him for me if you get the chance. I was the one that invited him over here when he appeared to become frustrated by his own board. I just checked it out and they talk about everything sports in Michigan except for the Lions and it is labeled a Lions forum.

Re: On To The Lions

Looking forward to the injury reports and that we're getting healthier (e.g. Snead, Armstead, Moore, maybe Breaux)...

Don't know if it's a smokescreen or neaux, but Stafford is supposed to be iffy this week, something about an ankle or hamstring...

Re: On To The Lions

Saints D have had 8 sacks last two games (Panthers had 6 vs Detroit) due to the performances of Crawley & Latt. Stafford played poorly even before the injury & now a major cog (Ngata) in the middle is out ... keep an eye on RB Abdullah though. He is good at making defenders miss.

Agreed, we must capitalize in all phases of the game on Sunday.

This game is in the dome ... BLITZ Stafford early and often, build a lead and Saints fans bring the noise. Pressure, pressure, pressure. Then let that young, opportunistic defense continue building it's confidence.

Noise for opposing QB's = interruptions. They can't make audibles, or adjustments. If Highland Park can't move ... blitz, bull rush him, do whatever. X factor - Saints Who Dat Nation (home sweet Dome).

Turn it up on Sunday.

Meh, noise is over rated with veteran players.

That is true if you only look at the possibility of "rattling" the opponent, but the inability to audible efficiently and/or hear the play call or snap count has a real impact on all offensive players, veteran or not.

And defensive at the same time. Evens out. However, the good coaches have that part pretty much figured out.

not really; once the defense has the play, there's usually not many audibles...

It's a lot harder for the QB to hear and then communicate a much longer play call to the offense and then try being a wide receiver or on the end of the line and trying to hear a shouting QB when the Dome is rockin'!

jeanpierre 10-14-2017 11:35 PM

Re: On To The Lions

Don't think we'll need to blitz, in fact, I expect to see a little more zone this week with several dime packages...

We may see Kenny V closer to the line and making a couple though...

Stafford will eat on blitzes, he's really become a complete passer...

OK, Cruize ... politically we are much aligned ... but predicting a Saints loss is where we must part company. :bng:
