Just saw this too! I'm glad! Trying to use him with out other two backs hurt the offense.

A conditional pick will work. In fact, that about the only kind of trade that can work in season.

I guess it was a good idea in a way to sign Peterson. We basically got a draft pick for signing someone for 4 games.

That's a good point, and I wonder if that was the motivation behind it all along. Sign him just to use him as trade bait when injuries pile up around the league.

Not really. We signed AP before the draft and got surprised Kamara was available and made the move up. Ironically the Vikings did the same thing - signed Latavious Murray then moved up for Dalvin Cook. Unfortunately for the Vikings Cook is hurt so now they really need Murray. Funny how things go.
