Saints Can Make History With No Turnover

Saints can make NFL history with turnover-free game

In a move that almost certainly will kick a Saints turnover into karmic existence Sunday, it's worth noting the New Orleans are one turnover-free game away from setting an NFL record.

In fairness to ESPN reporter Mike Triplett, he acknowledges the high jinx potential here. Regardless, the statistic via Elias Sports Bureau (and confirmed by NFL Research) is interesting.

No team has gone through its first five games without a turnover, and the Saints (2-2) have the Lions standing in their way Sunday.

On a side note, Carolina was going for the record on drops last night. Awful. I think every target had 2-3 confirmed drops.

Cam was just throwing anything up in the air. Must have been at least 3 dropped or near INT's.

A little extra something to shoot for.

You do know why players don't even look at the pitcher who's gone 8 no-hit innings, right?

I heard yesterday there were only two teams that had gone this far w/o a turnover & both of their records at season end were, wait for it...

7-9.

add it to our obscure meaningless records along with Dempsey and Abramowicz
The Morstead most touchbacks in a game one is still my favorite

That was actually a Panthers fan, there trying to enjoy the game. The punk in front of him was being a douche during the whole game. He stood during the whole game, and the guy behind him complained about it, so the POS turned around and sucker punched him. Hopefully he’s on his way to jail.

Both teams also turned the ball over 3 times in week 5.

The first turnover of the season was not a turnover. The WHOLE and SOLE point of replay is to get the call right. If I hear another person say, "well the call on the field was' I may hurl. The call on the field has NO NO NO NO bearing on the freakin' play. Tell me what you saw on the replay. You saw Thomas on the ground with the ball in his hands and THEN the guy stripped it. Catch. Down by contact. It's really just that simple.

We got robbed.

But I'd rather focus on the fact that we overcame it. It makes me think we're taking steps in the right direction.

There should be a PFF stat/grade for the refs. I thought Triplett and his crew were bad today.

He needs to retire.
Bad calls. Twice called penalty on the wrong team and had to correct.
They called a penalty on the Lions and called a number that no one had on their roster today.

The uncalled holding by the refs was the worst.
That game officiating was THE example of how the NFL has lost touch with the refs and the game of football itself.

Fellow members you should be amazed that it wasn't a Drew Pick-6 that ended the turnover streak.

He did redeem himself by throwing a Pick-6 to his favorite target.
A DEFENSIVE LINEMAN!
Classic!

Before you sling your arrows my way, please consider why Drew hasn't won an MVP Award with his numbers.

It's badly timed turnovers that the other Doodz didn't throw.

Even Scam Newton that one year.

And of course it happened on the VERY NEXT PLAY from when the announcers started talking about it.

I think NFL league MVP is a popularity contest. The fact that Cam Newton and Matt Ryan won MVP are proof to me that it's not worth anything.

The Lions do not lay down. Credit them. We still have work to do especially on the O. But, today's game was scrappy and exciting. We need to learn how to finish.

This may be a bit naive and biased, but I've always thought we had one least violent and well mannered fan bases. We may have big mouths at time, and rub it in when we win(maybe even more than other teams lol)... but the only times I've ever seen physical altercations involving fellow Saints fans is when they were initiated by other teams.

So true. Good thing it didn't matter.

The two teams that had the 4 game streak to open the season each had 3 turnovers in game 5.

The Saints had 3 turnovers. The Saints are the only team out of the 3 to win game 5.
