Ugly game; but hopefully this humbles the defense just a little

Past saints teams would have collapsed and lost this game. Yeah it was a little ugly at times, but overall a great effort by the D. These guys are for real. I think we're making the playoffs this year

If Marshon Lattimore only gave up 24 yards where did the other 300 come from as far defensive responsibility

Kenny Vacarro and Von Bell get beat a lot. Other than that the corner play was good. Ken Crawley gave up a big play on a missed tackle but I’m not disappointed with the defense today.

Well, 7 of that was because Drew threw a Pick-6...

And another 7 of that was because of a punt return (Believe Stupar got hurt on previous kick coverage)...

Yup. Twenty four real points.

Watching that Golden Tate sure had me wondering who really could've covered him. If we'd stuck Lattimore on him then the guy he was guarding would've eaten us up instead. Even so, Kenny did get credit for breaking up three passes.

I was more concerned with the way Abdullah was gashing us.

Gashing? 14 carries = 54 yards =3.9 avg... I wouldn't consider that gashing

Kamara 10 carries = 75 yards = 7.5 avg; now that's gashing

You know, you're right. I just had his better runs stuck in my brain.

Saints offense and ST gave up 17 of that 38 points. Pick 6, td punt return, and a offensive fumble (short distance) for a field goal.

So in reality the Saints defense scored as much as the Lions offense 21- 21

Still say Triplett, the ref, and his crew would have cost us a win in an even tighter game...

But if this team wants to go far, they'd better find and develop a put-em-away mentality...

We have lacked that mentality for years, last time we had it was 2011 I'd say.

It seemed like every time we got going, the refs would throw a flag, just like Kamara's run when he got pulled back by the face mask, all of a sudden theres holding on us too.....

For those who are into stats ...

Saints defense recorded 16 batted passes on yesterday. You can pencil that one in as a league record.

Keep grinding.
