And he might just get used to standing on the sideline.

Re: Delvin Breaux says he's on track to return to Saints once he's eligible

Glad he'll be available soon, but he's going to have to fight Crawley for his job back. Hell even Moore isn't getting any game time. Maybe switch Harris and Breaux. Harris is awful.

good to here never have enough good CB.

Now who can step up in the slot?

The slot needs upgrading.

Depth at corner is a premium, especially with our team the last decade +. Yay!
If he earns it, he'll start.

Embarrassment of riches at the position. Finally.

Re: Delvin Breaux says he's on track to return to Saints once he's eligible

Great to have him back! He probably won't see any playing time since we've been rolling with two CB's even in sub-packages, but he makes for incredibly high-quality depth.

Re: Delvin Breaux says he's on track to return to Saints once he's eligible

I like Crawley cover ability but Breuax is a all around better player than Crawley especially a better tackler. If Breaux given the chance to battle for his position, Crawley will be the one on the bench

Isn't it mandatory 8 weeks he has to sit out or something?

And that's basically what the article says Breaux is saying is that he will be available when that period has expired...

Crawley is playing well, but a healthy Breaux is better.
Someone is going to be unemployed soon. Williams? Harris?

He can practice tomorrow, but can't play until the TB game 11/5

Re: Delvin Breaux says he's on track to return to Saints once he's eligible

Sorry. I know he's a local guy who overcame a serious injury, but the Saints cannot just sit Crawley for Breaux because Breaux had a good season in 2015.

That may have been the case last year. But not now:

#1: Lattimore
#2: Crawley
#3: Breaux (when healthy)
#4: Williams

The Saints had better operate on the premise that you cannot have enough decent healthy secondary players. Keep all that are capable of being productive on the field and demote someone who really had no chance of seeing the field.

i love how Breaux has gone from the saints answer to Julio Jones to a scrub.

I don't know that he has become a scrub, but I do know that Crawley is playing extremely well, and you are not going to (should not) give his spot to someone who had a good season in 2015. And sure as hell you are not going to give him Lattimore's spot. So, at best, Breaux can come in as the 3rd CB, IF he wins it in practice, which I doubt.

Re: Delvin Breaux says he's on track to return to Saints once he's eligible

If Breaux is completely ready, the Saints will figure out a way to get him on the field. Could also use him to play the center deep safety position from time to time if needed.

In all fairness, Crawley has shut down Julio Jones as well and more recently.

Don't think Breaux will be named starter de facto because of his status prior to injury...

But hey, if he wins out in practice and performs on the field - it's all about getting the best cornerbacks out on the field...

I'm just tickled that this forum is arguing about the best corners rather than who's worse, sucks more...

Re: Delvin Breaux says he's on track to return to Saints once he's eligible

Harris seems like the weak link at corner and will be dropped even farther down the pecking order. We still need a corner that can cover the slot receivers even though we like the three safety set.

This is a good problem to have

Can't help but wonder if Breaux or another CB moves to Safety opposite Marcus Williams...

Re: Delvin Breaux says he's on track to return to Saints once he's eligible

If we could get Lattimore, Breaux and Crawley out there together, we could get a defense worthy of a nickname. Someone earlier noted that Breaux is more athletic than Crawley and he is but Crawleys A+ ball skills make him tough to replace. I assume Breaux could guard some bigger WRs better than Crawley but Crawleys gonna pick the ball off more often in my opinion.

Not a chance. Breaux doesn't have the ability to free lance and/or tract the ball from center field.

We can bring back 2 players from IR now... any thoughts on who else might be ready? Strief?

More aletic then put him in the slot to manup on the backs coming out of the backfield or tight ends releasing up the seam. Tag them at the line so no free releases that will help throw the offenses timing off and give the dogs more time to hunt.:bng::broccoli:

I think that's the plan. Strief is forgoing surgery hoping for a natural healing which, if it works, would fit the timing of a return. If for any reason he isn't ready the Saints could move on to plan B whatever that may be. Not sure who else is capable of returning at this point.

Until Breaux gets a handful of penalties as he has been known to do. He will be right back on the bench.
