Saints Releasing CB Sterling Moore

What a turnaround... From our #1 CB to expendable.

Release Harris (SJB 2.0) and keep Moore.

Agreed but Devante's saving grace is that he is a special teams contributor.

This is true. If you aren't a starter, or at least a regular rotational player, you better getting major snaps in on special teams or you are always a candidate for being cut. Could this be a move to free up a spot for Jimmy Graham?

Even if you want to keep Harris for ST duty, why cut Moore? Does this mean Breaux about to be activated? Or are they looking at possibly going after Byron Maxwell? So many questions with this move. What do they see in Harris?

I could be way off but I simply don't think Jimmy is in the cards for a reunion. Jimmy was a beast 3, 4 years ago but now he's simply not the same player.

Jimmy haven't looked motivated to play since he signed that big contract from us. Good thing we traded for Unger.

Moore isn't healthy yet and he's behind Williams, Bell and Bush on snaps. That's 6th on the depth chart & Breaux will be returning sooner than later. I like Moore as well but the talent pool at the DB position has improved in New Orleans this year, making him expendable.

Good luck to him
Came in and gave his all last year and has just been beaten out by a inform pairing and Breaux upcoming return

I understand that and those are valid points but why Harris is still on the team? Harris is not a standout ST player. If they're going to release, they must be looking to add someone. Curious on who that will be.

Breaux cannot come back until week 9, Nov 5
hasn't been full in practice yet either

hopefully signing a lineman

It appears the Saints needed to promote Cameron Tom to the 53-man roster after outside interest from the Redskins.

Breaux isn't eligible to return until week nine.

Ok. That makes sense. The only way to protect Toms was to promote him. That meant a player had to be cut ... Moore was the odd man out.

yep makes more sense now. they really must like the guy

Re: Saints Releasing CB Sterling Moore

Wonder if Moore asked for the release because of a lack of playing time at the bottom of the depth chart?!?

I'd have moved Harris, kept Marcus Lattimore, Ken Crawley, Del Breaux, PJ Williams and Sterling Moore...

I haven't watched too many Seattle games. I do remember he was having trouble running routes like he did with Drew (pocket passer) versus running the route and then having to try finding holes while Wilson ran around like a crazy person.

Some players do well when they go to other teams...some players do worse. I can't speak to his desire, but I expect he would be a productive TE if he came back. We'll know soon. I would also say odds are he does not come back, I'd also say odds are that Mickey and Sean are talking about it and talking to Seattle's FO.

I thought Moore was one of our most underrated players. Mr reliable. Hate to see him go. Somebody will get him and if we get hit with injuries back there we will regret it. Is Harris even any good on special teams?

Before he left to go Seattle he started to show no motivation to go after the ball He started to have alligator arms and I thought (no link just a assumption) he was bitter with Brees cause he didn't come to his defense during his contract talk. I just think his skill set diminish and he never was a good blocker. I wouldn't mind if the saints bring him in to kick the tires but if he expecting a big pay day here he need to keep shopping around.

Graham's contract talk were a league versus NFLPA issue. It was all based upon classification for franchise tag purposes. There was nothing Brees could say or do. It was all up to a court. Ironically, the same thing had basically happened with Brees when the NFLPA challenged his second franchise tag designation with a separate franchise which led to his court related hold out.
