Cameron Tom Welcome to the "53"

Quote:

The Saints on Wednesday elevated rookie center Cameron Tom from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster, according to a source familiar with the transaction.

Tom's elevation comes a week after the Washington Redskins attempted to sign him from the Saints practice squad.

The 6-foot-4, 287-pound Tom provides depth with guard Larry Warford dealing with an abdominal strain and will take the roster spot vacated by cornerback Sterling Moore, whom the Saints released Wednesday.

Guess they got him the added weight he needed; now we are getting some depth on that offensive line...

And I'd betcha he was promoted before he had his zip code changed by another interested NFL franchise...

It would be awesome if he could be a homegrown replacement for Max Unger somewhere down the road.

Kelemete is now the starting guard. If something happens to Unger, they will need a center.

Besides Drew going down that is my biggest fear. We may need to draft a center if Tom isn't the answer.....even if he is I still want to draft a center who will start day one.

We need depth at guard obviously. It would be nice if Tom was the answer at back up guard/center but I'm worried about the depth along the line right now. Kelemete is our best back up lineman and has done a decent job when pressed into service along the line.

So our reserves now are Josh LeRibeus and Unger...Offensive linemen are having a rough time around the league this year...

The Redskins seemingly lost an offensive lineman on every series against the Eagles; it did seem like the Eagles had a lot of inadvertent falls at the knees are lower of the 'skins offensive linemen...

Skins are in bad shape. I feel bad for Cousins. Good QB but with no protection he is going to start getting killed. They have no legit receivers either. Pryor is pretty much worthless and Crowder can't get open anymore for some reason.

Glad we blocked them though. Go look elsewhere for leak repairs.

The overall quality of O-lines deteriorates by a quite substantial amount during the season - it is a war of attrition.

That leads to one of the biggest reasons why the Failcants made it all the way to the SB last season, since as far as I'm aware of - their O-line remained totally intact for the season.

What has Greco have left in the tank?

Well, we can only pray that we don't have to find out...

But Unger has to continue to get healthy, stronger because we need his A+ game back...
