Re: Underhill: Time to consider the X-Men, er, New Orleans Saints contenders
Quote:
After two lackluster performances (MN, Pats) on D, this team has truly turned a corner. Over the last month, we're beating teams by double digits. 5 out of the 6 teams we've defeated were held to less than 20 points. Saints have also scored points on special teams & on defense. Guys are bringing consistent pressure (Cam, Okafor, Trey) & we are getting a push up the middle. It's hard to pass against this secondary. Men are stepping up everywhere. Hardee on special teams (had a td yesterday), Banjo with the blitz while Vacarro was out, Klein stopping RB in the flats, PJ Williams had a lot of snaps and was good. More importantly there is balance. Ingram and Kamara are a very good tandem. Clean up the muffed punts & missed PAT's/blocks (all correctable). By December, this could be an extremely dangerous team that no one will want to face in the dome or any place else for that matter. Winning 6 games in a row at this level is extremely difficult nonetheless the opponent. Keep grinding men. Side note - it won't show on the stat sheet but David Onyemata has been getting in. Consistently pushing the pocket & taking advantage of single blocking when Rankins gets doubled. |

Footnote - I'll fess up & admit that I had this team done after the 0-2 start. Pleasantly surprised by the turnaround thus far.
