The "fake" Kick Return

Seriously, who in the world thought that was a good idea? Funny, maybe. Reminiscent of the old school Payton triple reverses. Zero chance that play will ever, ever work....ever.

It would've had a better chance if the ball had been thrown better.

You obviously never heard of the music city miracle?

I watched the game so I remember the play. lateral, yes; however, Tommylee was laying on the paint. That made it more obvious to me...like what is that dude doing?

Don’t get cute if you don’t need to.
We don’t need cute, we only need consistency

Re: The "fake" Kick Return

With the momentum we already had in the game, I have no idea why we needed to run that play. Unless SP just wanted to try it in an actual game and not practice.

I think that is the main thing, and he might actually have something planned off this that we'll see later in the season.

Put TLL on the ground again and somebody will notice and then they'll swarm him hopefully leaving somebody else open.

Eagles did that to us a few years ago. Riley Cooper?
big return called back I think

If there was a game to try something with no worry of outcome , maybe that was it.

Yeah! We'll pull it against whoever McMahon's coaching ST for now!

No issue with it myself.
Nobody in their right mind would have gone for the onside kick in the superbowl either. If you play with fire you'll occasionally get burnt.

It'll keep teams guessing the odd nutball play

Not if this is as good as we can do in executing it. We should just stick to the non fake touchback, start with decent field position and play to our strengths.

I believe it was called back because they agreed it was a forward pass.

Often these plays they are looking for something that improves the chances as we all know. If it appears to be there why not.

If you watched the replay, TLL had one guy to beat, but he slipped and fell. It had a chance, just poor execution. Almoat the entire coverage unit ran at Ginn

its all part of the play. Many teams have done it. You hide and become camoflouged. out of site out of mind until you pop up out of no wheres to catch the ball and run up the other sidelines. Obviously it didn't work out so well.

It's what happens when Coach shoves too may sticks of Juicy Fruit in his mouth.

Throw that play away ... forever.

No need to get cute on special teams and/or kickoffs. We can barely handle punts (led to the Bucs points) as it is.

LOL I was explaining the Juicy Fruit ritual to my GF who is a Browns fan... poor thing. lol.

Makes me wonder if Payton called the dropped punts too.

Payton's rogue risk taking behavior must be rubbing off on the special teams coach......

Its all good now, Bryce Harris is gonna take over punt returns. ;)

I thought the hiding return was funny, poor throw but we did score a TD that drive.
