I don't care about what we do next year
 

We have a playoff year and we lose a game like this so we can give Carolina the division right back in two weeks? We have not lost yet, but it's not looking good. This team was too reliant on Lattimore. Now, a crucial game like this changes the dynamics of our division.

Are we really relying on New England to beat Carolina in the SB if we don't go? What is NE does not go? What if it's Pittsburgh or KC? Let me prephase this.....it will be us or Carolina in the SB. That is common sense. Letting Cam sniff a chance at redemption is BAD.

I want to win the Super Bowl this year. I still think we haven't hit our peak though, so yeah I care about next year. I'll care about every year, even if we suck though, so it doesn't matter.

Well can you blame me given our recent history in games like this? What if I didn't start this thread? I probably would have come on after the game when we actually lost. But enough with that superstitious stuff. This was the ONE game on our schedule I badly wanted us to win.

And to the other I knew we were not going undefeated the rest of the way. I had us losing to LA and Carolina losing week 14 or 15. Meaning if we win the games we should, we can still win the division if Carolina won week 13. If we lost to Washington, it would have been game over for division if we lost three in a row. We can still win next week, but I don't think we would have if we lost at home to a team whose chances of the playoffs are not better than theirs.

Actually I can. Because you are making a mistake if you are basing an outcome on anything other than what has happened in the last couple of months.
And your wish was granted. BTW, it wasn't your post that turned it around.


The point is that no game should be conceeded until it is actually over. I know many think Guido was nuts calling for a 14-2 season in September. But look where we are now, more than halfway there. While the odds of actually finishing 14-2 is not the most likely outcome, being driven to try to do so should be the goal.

BTW if you are going to use the past, remember that for the last 3 years the Saints have been in shootouts with virtually no defense. Remember that I stated in the offseason that the team would be competitive with an average defense. Over the last two months the defense has been outstanding. And the offense hasn't changed much from the ones who have been in shootout after shootout. Brees throws for 30 attempts and 200 yards not because he is limited. He does it because when the running game racks up nearly 200 yards and the defense gives the offense the ball back via takeaways, there's no need to do more.

But as you can see in the 4 minute drill, with 12/13 182 yards, 2 TDs, and both a game tying and game winning drive, Brees still can step up to the shootout arena when required. Coupled with a defense that finally can make the necessary plays and a running game that can punish and control a defense, you have a team that simply isn't out of the game, even when it seems to be.

It's shades of 2009. Down 24 points to Miami in the 2nd quarter to come back to win. The crazy game in Washington. Simply finding a way to win.

Right now the sun is shining so bright you should be uncomfortable. So predicting losses mid-game or losses for games yet to be played is frankly unacceptable.

So it's on to LA. Here's to hoping I won't see another post like this anytime soon.

I'm loving this especially how people where calling for a different coach and Q.B. I would be depressed if we lost either even after the last few years. Defense was shaky today because of the injuries but we are finding ways to win. I'm still cautiously optimistic but It hasn't felt this special to me since 2013. WHO DAT!!!!

When I posted that, we were down ten points and the defense was falling apart without Lattimore and I had no faith in Brees putting together that comeback because in this kind of situation with Washington's pass rush he hasn't done it in a while. Like I said, I did not want to lose this game because it was the game that was gonna dictate our season.

And this is why you are EEyore, a natural pessimist. Sunshiners hope for the best until the end, and then look for the positives when the team falls short.

When Guido states 17-2, it isn't a guarantee. It's a hope. A positive one. As Brees said in his presser today, the Saints have the confidence to believe they can win any game.

But understand that comebacks like that don't happen unless there is belief, and hope, and confidence. If the Saints had packed it in after falling down 15 in the 4th quarter, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

So since you've already prediced losses to the Rams and the KittyKats, does that mean that we won't hear from you again until mid December?

I care about right now and why aren't we celebrating instead of worrying about losing. We haven't relied a lot of Lattimore. We just didn't have a defense planned without Lattimore. We will have next week or he will play. We adapted, overcame and improvised and we won. THAT IS THE TEST OF GREAT MEN. SEMPER FI AND OORAH!

we have to stay healthy if we have any chance of going deep into the playoffs, our defense will carry/help this team to the super bowl we know what just offense does 7-9 i just try to keep my feet on the ground, i was as pissed as anyone today giving up 2 walk off tds imo. we have to learn from this game for the young D to realize its next man up.

While it's no secret that Lattimore is a huge part of our defense, I think today should've proved to any of Klein and/or Vaccaro's haters that those guys are ballers and important to this defense.

That's exactly what I was thinking. That game was U-G-L-Y.

In fact, it was that game in which my FAVORITE play in the Payton-Brees era occurred. It was when Brees threw a pass to Meacham. Brees got picked. Meacham ripped the ball back out of the Skin's defenders arms and took it to the house! Yeah baby.

Yeah we were pretty much going to lose that game and then the INT assure a lost but wait stripped run back for a TD and we are right back in it... lol. One of my Favs.

I was actually describing the play last night about what happened in 2009 and I was asked... "all on the same play?" I said YES!!!

We won in the 2009 regular season (beating the all mighty Patriots BTW) with retired Mike McKenzie suiting up from the freaking luxury box and corners from off the street with little to no practice. Will power and belief. As good as Lattimote is he isn't the end all be all of our defense.

It's a legit question.
Redskins and Rams. We saw the Rams beat the Saints when the Rams were horrible and the Saints were headed to the playoffs. We lost 1st seed after losing to them.

Let's hope that trend ends.
Redskins... I watched RGIII destroy us in the Superdome. I remember Kirk Cousins killing us in 2015. At least that's one buggaboo that went down in a flame of choke = beating the Redskins.
