Saints created perfect storm for Mike Westhoff to return to coaching

Re: Saints created perfect storm for Mike Westhoff to return to coaching
Great hire & it appears we are leaving no stone unturned. Coach Payton is looking for any "edge" he can get. I read a clip from Triplett a week or so ago on the hire and it appears Westhoff is now running the show on s/t. Not sure where that puts Banta.
Payton & the front office appears to be very serious about getting it right in all phases of the game this year. |
Re: Saints created perfect storm for Mike Westhoff to return to coaching
I don't think Banta is going anywhere. Westhoff is probably just going to take a shot and try to get a ring. Whether or not he does, I think he'll hang it back up afterwards. If the Saints weren't in the middle of a push to be one of the NFCs best teams, he probably would've yd Payton to pound sand.
I think he's a good hire. And I hope the team can deliver for him so he can retire with a SB ring. |

I think Westhoff's just focused on the return game and letting Banta deal with the rest. Anyone else noticing a nice difference in that area already?

Dusted him off, got him a black shirt and a gold whistle, retirement is for Sissies...
Mike Westhoff is a special teams coach for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). Previously he coached for a number of teams, most notably for the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins. Westhoff is considered a "pioneering special teams coach" and his special teams units have generally ranked very highly in the NFL.[1][2] He retired after the 2012 season.[3] |
