Everyone needs to chill out

Okay so the Saints lost a game they should've won. The offense was flat, play call was questionable, the secondary was missing it's two best cover guys and the special teams gave up big returns.

Bad game. That's it. I'm sure SP will have the team ready for the Panthers this week.

Let's be honest here, we're 8-3. I don't know about you guys but if you'd have told me that before the season started, I would've been ecstatic. And if you would've told me after those first two games that we were going to go 8-3 by week 12 I wouldn't have believed you.

The Saints have a good team this year. But it's a dog fight in the NFC for the top teams. Especially the NFC South. Falcons and Kittens aren't going away.

The 8 game streak was awesome, and unbelievable at times. But hey, eventually every team has to lose. So better to the Rams then someone in the NFC South.

The team will get their **** together and be ready for this week. And hopefully we get our starting CBs back. If not, with how Harris got benched in the last game (thankfully), we should see more of Moore.

We lost to Dallas during our Super Bowl run.

Re: Everyone needs to chill out

Agreed. It was a tough game and unfortunately the offense and special teams both made life even more difficult for our defense, who played admirably all things considered. We played a good team at a really bad time for us and still could've won the game if not for a small handful of plays. Hopefully we get healthy again. If so I still think this team has a legitimate shot at a championship.

This is still a dangerous team. I'm relieved they lost. Now they can experience some humbleness and make adjustments that need to be made. Even the Patriots have a bad day at the office.

I think we win our next 3 at least and put everyone behind us for good. If that happens we will own all the tie breakers in the division.

Re: Everyone needs to chill out

I'll take 8-3 any year. We're in a good spot to make the playoffs. Crazy that 3 teams from the NFCS may all make it in. Playoffs will be extremely tough. We win the division and we likely have a home game against an NFCS team. Then, go to Rams, Minny, Philly depending on seeding and have to have 2 big road wins to get to the big game. One game at a time and keep pounding.

I agree, it's mostly frustration bubbling to the surface. Especially since we're better than the Rams, I know we could've won that game, even as busted up as we were.

We were also 13-0 before we started losing, Smash...

No, I'm excited about the season, just disappointed Payton forgot to run the damn ball...

Re: Everyone needs to chill out

Look i get the dont wanna tip your hand to a potentially a playoff opp you may face again. But the way to play that game was not to get into a shoot out but ground and pound keeps them off the feild and sheilds our defenses short comings. Instead now your almost forced to sweep both atl and car. The season comes down those 3 games

saintshrimp 11-28-2017 11:47 AM

Re: Everyone needs to chill out

Dont expect the Jets or Bucs to just give a win away i expect to win those game but they will not come easy. Wouldnt be shocked to see us lose one of those either. It's gonna come down to the wire. Figure you need at least 2 out the next 5 at min. I want them all but got to get 2 more wins for a shot

Re: Everyone needs to chill out

It certainly ain't panic mode. If we end up sitting 8-6, may want to consider some desperation. 10-6 in this year's NFC still might not make the playoffs depending on tie breakers.

I won't keep blaming our backup CBs as the single point of failure as the coaches need to thoroughly address this blatantly obvious weakness.

Although, I would love to see Harris stocking shelves at Wal-Mart this week.

I don't even understand how the coaches would go back to him after what he did in weeks 1 and 2

It's a conspiracy...complex & beyond football. Prolly a 'reptilian' plot.

Will we ever turn the offense over to Drew? This would be a huge step in the right direction, as Payton's ego is our greatest offensive barrier right now.

Yeah. Wtf do the coaches see in him? Really? He's frickin horrible. And not just that....he's a blame everyone else guy. After the game he didn't take accountability for how ****ty he did. He kept saying "we". I'm like dude....you.... mostly you.

Maybe he's blowing DA and Payton.

Regardless, if they think he has potential, then I have yet to see it. All I see is him getting burned like toast.

For all the abuse that Jason David got from fans, he got 5 picks for us in 2008. Harris isn't even within 5 yards of the receiver when he gets beat.

You forgot Washington. He gave up a big one there too. SJB 2.0.

Re: Everyone needs to chill out

I'm not freaking out. The lack of depth is concerning so health is critical.

The schedule (3 games in 11 days) is daunting.

In the end, we're likely to finish 11-5 or 10-6. Then it's a new season.

Possibly no truth to this but I read that SP & Allen are very good friends with his dad . But back on topic, Harris was bad starting in training camp & subsequent pre season games. To see him start the first two weeks over Ken (who was very good @ t/c) is absolutely mind boggling.

We shall see what develops on tomorrow's injury report as it relates to Ken and Latt.

See? Conspiracy. No way Harris starts over Crawley based on TC & preseason performance.

We get pressure using just Front 4 & we can help cover that gigantic hole where De'Doofus Harris pretends to defend. Blitzing anyone leaves man-2-man coverage.

Hopefully we should get ML and/or KC back for this brutal 3 game stretch. We gone need it. We got this...just 2 outta 3 & we're solid. Or just get all 3 and rejoice.

Re: Everyone needs to chill out

Should things stay as they are and we win Sunday, we're looking at either Falcons or Panthers in New Orleans...

That'd be a tall task to beat Carolina 3X's in one year...

Losing to the Rams really hurts as it likely cost us a 2nd or 3rd seed...

Agreed! I've been saying the Saints need a loss to get back their focus. The coaches have a hard time getting through to the players when they are on a win streak. I think this is exactly what they needed right now.

Just to piggyback on Hagan ...

* Rams had 8, 9 men in the box most of the game (limited MI). I didn't see many adjustments by the Saints.

* Time of possession was lop sided - Rams - 35 minutes to Saints 23. 23 minutes isn't a lot of time to protect our defense w/multiple injuries.

* 3 for 13 on 3rd down. Gotta do better here.

Saints did a LOT to not allow themselves a good opportunity to win vs a good Rams team yet we were an onside kick away from potentially winning.

I agree with other posters who have stated we are still dangerous. I think this team has a convincing performance (again) against the Kittens.

Im not worried at all im rather happy the arrow is in the upward postion sure beats what its been the last several yrs. I just felt like they made this alittle more difficult not getting a win last week id feel alot better headed into these next couple divson games with that one game cushion but it is what it is and fight on

Re: Everyone needs to chill out

I'm not going to chill out. Mediocre defense and we couldn't capitalize. Got burned on ST, but still kept to the 'plan'. Brees and Ingram were pedestrian, and we were one big play from having a god-awful day offensively.

Forget pointing to Lattimore being out; we did not execute in what should have been a separation game. Now we are back with the pack

I would have preferred Lutz kickoffs to be deeper in the end zone. Having a team "take a knee" & start from the 25 would have been more desirable. Kicking to Pharoah Cooper with a running start was asking for trouble. Rams are very good in the s/t area.

Special teams coaching moment for sure.
