Superdome big screens broken!
Dome replay screens fade to black
Failure complicates lease negotiations Friday, April 15, 2005 By Bruce Eggler Staff writer Although an anticipated refinancing of Superdome bonds could solve the state's need for money to pay the Saints $15 million by July, the Superdome Commission was told Thursday that a new emergency has arisen in relations between the two sides. The system that operates the DiamondVision instant-replay screens in the Dome is broken and cannot be fixed, leaving officials scrambling to get a new system in place by the Saints' first 2005 home preseason game Aug. 12. If they miss that deadline, Dome General Manager Glenn Menard said, the Saints could claim the lack of instant-replay screens violates the state's responsibility under its contract with the Saints to operate the Dome as "a first-class facility," opening the way for the Saints to file a notice of default that could, if not remedied, let the team break the lease and leave New Orleans http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/metro/i...4656632480.xml |
