Bobby Hebert

What have you done for me lately
Copycat league
Beat them at their own game
Live by the sword die by the sword

What’s the over and under on how many times he will repeat these cliches before a commercial break.

You forgot parity in the league. That's at least 3 times every show.

How much is the over/under on whether he'll get drunk before half time?

Good ole Bobby Hebert. Good guy who talks a lot and says nothing. Had to stop listening to him a long time ago. After about 5 minutes my nerves would be shot.

Re: Bobby Hebert

I very seldom listen to Hebert anymore & he doesn't come across a bright guy but he did make me laugh a few months back as he scrambled to remember Danelle Ellerbe's existence on the team.

"Hey, Deke who is the long-haired linebacker with the dreds?" Crickets for 10 seconds. That was funny as hell to me.

I don't know, I think he's endearing.

I remember a few years ago when they asked him if he played on Twitter and he replied something along the lines of.. "No, but when he was high school I played my fair share of Twatter".

Deke was speechless.

I'll take Hebert, clichés & all. He may not win any scholastic awards but he's truly passionate about the New Orleans Saints.
I have more respect for him than I would some pencil dick disc-jockey turned sports announcer that's never laced em' up before in their life.

What about "executing in all phases of the game"?

I don’t have anything against him I would much rather have him than some stats geek with no passion. He does crack me up with that stuff though.
What I can’t stand is all the commercials. Worst thing about WWL.
Besides Tom Fitzmorris.

I miss Buddy. I enjoyed the post game just as much as the game. It was like an after game party on the radio when we won.

I remember the year he died I just moved to Charlotte NC. I was already homesick as hell but that sent it over the top. I couldn’t pick up 870 to hear what was said about it so I called the station and the screener and producer let me just stay on hold to hear all that was being said. I must have talked to that guy for hours about Buddy and Bddyisms as I listened to the show. He was also very upset and emotional. It’s like we we’re consoling each other. I really wish I remembered the guys name. It could have been Seth Dunlap or Garic but I think they may have been too young.
Tied up a phone line for me for a good 3 hours.

On another note do you think they could get away with Abdul the Tentmaker these days? What ever happened to that guy?

I go back to the Hap Gluadi days, he would let people talk more than anything but I really enjoyed his show. Buddy D was so Nawleans it was a trip just to listen to the lingo as well as the content. Being a country boy from deep Cajun country I relate to Bobby’s accent and style ... home cooking as they say.

I can’t believe there isn’t a tribute to either. Buddy had Happs Point After.

Only thing I don’t like about Bobby is that he’s not exactly the best ambassador to represent us when fans listen from around the nation. Makes us all look like a bunch of uneducated backwoods hicks.
At least you could argue Buddy had a speach impediment.

I guess you could argue Bobby is just drunk.

Re: Bobby Hebert

The drunken tyrade Bobby went on blasting Les Miles after Miles left Richard Jefferson in vs Bama in the title game even though LSU didnt cross midfield in the first half was epic. Obviously drunk and furious with the play calling and not playing Jarett Lee, sentiments all of Louisiana agreed with while TeeBob, Bobbys boy playing for the national championship but with the worst coaching of Les Miles career drove Bobby over the edge. I never could forgive Les for that game either but that press conference was hilarious. Les handled it well of course. Bobbys the man.

We got rid of Bobby. He was honestly a great Saints QB for a few years. We went 12-3 one year and won the division over Joe Montanas 49ers. That year the Saints offense though not overly exolosive led the league in 3rd down conversion percentage. Unfortunately Bobby had some poor playoff games as did the rest of the team. Those were the Saints first playoff games ever. They just werent ready. Then John Fourcade started the last three games one season and threw for 300+ yds in all three games. One was in the snow vs Buffalo. I was a young teenager and thought Fourcade was the next Terry Bradshaw. Big, athletic, a fearless runner who ran like a fullback as he weighed nearly 240 lbs. Unfortunately he relied completely on broken plays and you cant really base an offense like that. The Dome Patrol still had seversl years left in their prime. I loved the move at the time but we screwed Hebert and those LBs cuz they never were relavent again. Bobby was devastated and w e all know he was never really a Falcon. Quickest release zI ever saw to this day. Solid arm but not an athletic QB. If we couldve given Bobby a good deep threat to compliment Dalton, Eric Martin and Hoby Brenner..........Gotta love Bobby.

Before their were Jacksonville, Dome patrol was the defense the league cringe to play. Now if Blake Bortles win a playoff game that will show how much of a competitor the Cajun Assasin was or wasn't.

Naw just kidding Bobby Hebert was the man. We just caught some bad breaks

I suppose you preferred Aaron Brooks?

What's with the hate on Hebert. He knows what he's talking about. Last year, he said after the broncos loss week 10 that if that was the lions and their defense played like that, they would destroy us........and a few weeks later they did.

This is why I just can't do the radio anymore. Not only is the vast majority of the broadcast commercials, it's the same commercials over and over again. I like listening to the shows after the game, because they minimize commercials, but during the week and before a game it is intolerable.
