New Saints linebacker Jonathan Freeny will give New Orleans 'flexibility' on defense
 

"We like the player, we know him," Saints coach Sean Payton said. "It gives us flexibility in the base, and it gives us flexibility with A.J., too. ... He's played strong, he's played Mike. He's played inside."

Freeny, who has been on and off the Patriots roster all season, is ready to contribute to the Saints for the final three games.

"It’s definitely been an up-and-down season, but that’s all part of the NFL," Freeny said. "I’m not the first guy this has happened to and I won’t be the last guy it’s happened to, but it’s definitely been a whirlwind. I’m just happy to be here."
