Saints - Panthers 3

It's about set - a 80% plus chance of a 3rd Panthers - Saints for 2017 in the postseason.

http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/nfcstandings.html

Only thing really left to decide is who's the home team (division winner).

Thoughts on facing Scam a 3rd time???

I definitely don’t want to play a division team we already beat twice in the same year.

Agree. It's tough to beat anyone 3 times in 1 season. Not say it can't be done, just way higher degree of difficulty. It'd be completely awesome, though.

Its the one team I fear the most of all the NFC contenders.

Philly? No
Rams? No
Vikings? No
Panthers? Oh hell yes.

we won our first play off game ever doing just that - AND we played the Rams twice in a row beating "the greatest show on turf" three times that year. and now that i think about it - twice in a row. how often does that happen? bring it on!

We don't have a bye.

If Carolina is winning, beat the bucs. If it looks like Atlanta is winning, then just let the bucs win. Because if the falcons win, we win, and then SF goes and upsets LA, then boy are we in for a tough rematch.

Atl@Car was flexed.

Of course it was....

Well have to beat the bucs I guess and risk playing the falcons.

Get a home game. WIN, no matter who we play, just WIN!

Re: Saints - Panthers 3

Turns out it's not gonna be flexed after all so there is still a chance to control who we play if the rams slip up.

Not sure you are clear on what you speak. All four NFC games dealing with seeds 3-6 are all on at 4:25 ET:

I don't mind playing the Panthers. Of all teams we played this year, they match up the worst against the Saints. That's why we swept them.

I am talking about Car@Atl playing SNF as he seemed to indicate last night.

Carolina was built to beat us and they built a good team who went to the super bowl while we went 7-9 repeatedly........but last years draft separates us from the rest of the division.

Thank you Jeff Ireland!!!

CAR@ATL was flexed to 4:25 ET as were several other games including Saints/Bucs. I guess it's easy to confuse the word "flexed" to SNF only. However, flexing can be to a different later timeslot (as the Saints were a couple of times this season) or crossflexed, where CBS carries an NFC-NFC matchup that normally would only be aired on FOX. I got to see the Saints here in Atlanta because the Carolina/Chicago game was crossflexed this season for example.

Bottom line is exactly for the reasons that you were outlining, the games with affect each other in terms of the playoffs are played at the same time. Since the Saints, Kitties, Chokers, Lambs, and Seachickens games all influence each other, all games involving them have been grouped at 4:25 ET.

Tough year in the NFC. Win 12 games and still have to win 3 to get to the Super Bowl. The good news is, the Vikes, Eagles and Rams don't scare me.

Win next week let "The Scam" come to the Dome and send him out a loser for another of his classless postgame pout's ... Another postseason beatdown for "The Scam".

I think they are the least threatening playoff team. I would be more concerned with playing ATL again. That said I would rather play the hawks if I had a choice.

Agree. As long as the Saints keep Scam in the pocket his completion rate drops and his picks increase. We now have DBs that can maintain coverage till the pressure collapses the pocket. It worked both games this year.

Key will be whether Carolina’s D can figure out how to stop us.

Well he should have been more clear. I knew that the games would be at 4:25 unless one was a SNF. That was that way in 2013 when we last went to the playoffs. He made me think it was SNF. Yet I read nothing about it moving to SNF so I was not sure where he got any information from.

Atlanta has the better QB and WR, that's for sure, but we'll beat whomever is unlucky enough to draw us.

I'd rather play Carolina first in the playoffs

Atlanta's offense is more dangerous than the Panthers is, Atlanta's D plays better against our offense than the Panthers do.

Re: Saints - Panthers 3

Talks is Rams are going to start the back ups next week so if the 49ers can get the win we might nab 3rd seed. So that might mean Atlanta or Seattle. But then means the Vikings in the divisionals.

The 4th seed would likely be Panthers then Eagles.

Really not sure whats the best path there.

Anyway just win the division Sunday and let the chips fall as they may

With the 3rd seed we could play every game in a dome including the Super Bowl.

Beating an opponent three times is pretty tough...

I'd like to get the Falcons at home in the Dome just to get our playoff record against them to 1-1...

Plus it'd be good to start the playoffs right with a win over our rivals...

I think any way you carve it - it is going through the Link, we we beat them there in 13, we can do it again.

My memory of this season and the facts are inconsistent. I was wrong. We lost to the rams in the last game of the season but still won the tie breaker for the division, and came back to beat them the next week. My apologies. I was wrong.
