Saints seeking ways to use Taysom Hill in 'different situations,' Sean Payton says
 

Rookie Taysom Hill is proving to be more than a backup quarterback; he's a football player.

The New Orleans Saints' No. 3 signal caller already contributes on special teams, even taking pregame warm-up repetitions as a punt returner in Week 15.

But the Saints tossed in a new wrinkle during Week 16's 23-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons, lining up Hill for one play as a wide receiver in the first half.

The possibility of incorporating Hill as a contributor at other positions on offense is on the Saints' radar.

"Just looking at different situations, I think it was a screen play," coach Sean Payton said Tuesday of Hill's appearance on offense. "We'll continue to do that."

I could see him getting plenty snaps at WR next year like Kordell Stewart. Hill is just as athletic as Stewart. He's not going anywhere. Peyton likes him. He's another neat toy for Peyton to play with. If he can run under a fade route, get ready.

Starting to use him a little at WR now causes teams to have one more thing to scout. Coaches only have so much time...

Lining him up outside occasionally sets up nicely for a double pass later.

Good spot for him. The bar's not set very high this year at the WR position. It wouldn't take much to get into the rotation in the slot.

Maybe we can trade him for Foles and have a real backup Qb who will be more than ready when Brees hangs them up.

I can see this happening. We are a young team who is built to win now. With a few tweaks to the roster this team won’t need a young QB to develop. They are gonna need a guy like Foles to step right in and take over.
He’s got playoff experience and I would rather go into the SB 2-3 years from now with experience.
Like it or not Brees days are numbered.
