Unreal, the guy makes a few plays and then gets injured for the 3rd time in three years.

Looks like we’ll be starting our 4th different DE opposite Jordan on Sunday. Hopefully Hendrickson is close to returning.

Johnson is better than both...

Kikaha was playing more LB recently, so I see it hurting us there.

Trust that things will continue to work out. It is destined that we win another Super Bowl.

We all knew what we were getting high risk w/his potential being anywhere from a good situational pass rush guy to a perpetual IR guy. Not disappointed at him...just annoyed we spent a 2nd RD pick on a medical long shot. Wish him a good recovery.

They say ankle injury... has to be worse than a sprained ankle or something. SMDH

Snakebit but people continue to step up. Have done so all year and the defense has played better and better.

Hopefully there is no tipping point with injuries because we would be fast approaching that threshold.

It may just be a smart move. Perhaps its a minor injury that would only keep him out 2 or 3 weeks.

It makes sense to IR a guy like that so you can bring someone else up that can help in round 1, or even round 2 of the playoffs.

If this was week 10, I doubt we IR him.

On average half the teams in the NFL. The league total is now sitting around 520 players on IR or around 16.25 per team.

So the average this year is 16 players and we’re at 21. Which is sixth hugest.

Last year we were second highest at 25.

That’s a lot of IR

Players on IR do not necessarily relate only to strength and conditioning. It is also based in a great manner by team philosophy. Payton is far less likely to keep a player on roster that will go more than a couple of games without contributing than many other head coaches. He is also far less likely to play a player not mostly healthy. In other words, we send players to IR that many teams would keep on the roster.

anzalone has bad bones so it is not surprising. kikaha has bad knees and now apparently ankles. The loss of okafor hurt as did the loss of klein. i guess at this stage of the season a few weeks = IR

Let's just hope the oline stays healthy, we need a completely healthy oline, ingram and kamara in the playoffs

Where did you get the idea that Anzalone "has bad bones"? As far as his injury goes he has only suffered one broken bone. He had a couple of shoulder injuries in college that may not have been addressed successfully. Hopefully the surgery he had this time will have a more successful result.

And as for Kikaha, getting your ankle rolled doesn't mean that you have bad ankles. It simply means you suffered an unavoidable injury that could happen to virtually any NFL player in any game.

Don't quote me but I think Ireland came on board after the Senior bowl the year we drafted Kikaha. However he wasn't working with an NFL organization and was researching pretty much on his own.

The following draft and last years draft showed the impact that Ireland has on bringing in quality players.

Edit: The new scouts also had a great influence no doubt!:p

What? He has had ONE broken bone in his career. The shoulder issues have all dealt with soft tissue.
