What we learned after the Saints' playoff win against the Panthers

We overcame adversity and won this game.

We swept them....three games. That's tough to do.

We play Minnihaha next week for a rematch.

We lost a good one with Peat broken fibula.

I didn't hear the final outcome on Peat... That was it huh?

Offense found it’s air game. Not worried about the running game. Carolina has solid run defense and sold out.
Offense was great except for third quarter
Defense stepped up when it counted.

We wanted this game. No way we win it otherwise. Sean has these guys tuned in.

We have to design better 3rd and short plays

It was total BS that concussion protocol for Scam Newton... He should have sat out much longer than he did.

He didn’t even go through it, they called it an eye injury... complete BS

Bell almost cost us this game. If the receiver just sticks out a hand then game over. I'm glad the kittens receiver sucked as bad as Bell did in this game. I have to give him props on the game ending sack though. That's how you make up for a bad play. Seans balls have officially re dropped.

Re: What we learned after the Saints' playoff win against the Panthers

We learned;
Josh Hill can actually catch a ball.
Lutz has a pretty good leg at 50+.
we can still rely on Brees if the run is shutdown.
We learned Sean Payton still has balls.

Re: What we learned after the Saints' playoff win against the Panthers

We also learned play calling on 3rd downs is still atrocious. 25% completion on 3rd down today.

Re: What we learned after the Saints' playoff win against the Panthers

I learned
Offense:
Brees still has the ability to win games on his own.
Thomas is an absolute stud.
Payton was smart knowing they would take away the RBs and planned for it.

Defense:
Went back to zone coverages and got destroyed due to missed assignments and confusion.
Defensive injuries are starting to play a bigger role.
We have no pass rushers aside from Jordan.
Bush shouldn’t be playing.
Bell is not a starter at SS, and if Vaccaro leaves it’ll be a problem.
Our LBs are some of the slowest in the game and massive liabilities in coverage.

I'm glad we held on to win or I would have had some harsh words about Mr.Payton.

On 2nd and 10 we need to THROW THE BALL.

We need to put a game like this in Brees's hands.

Oh No! Well in that case I'm glad we won too. We don't have to read your *****y posts for at least another week.

We learned that with the game on the line we went with balls over brains. No time-outs, inside of 2 minutes, and we gift them 30 yards.

Kind of pathetic NY had to stop play and tell those fools (refs) there was a 10 second run off that needed to be enforced on that intentional grounding by Fig Newton.

That would have been a huge miss.

The best Saints team since 2011 will be denied realizing their potential because SP is a hard headed attention seeking dill hole.

See the first third down play and the last fourth down play.

He cares more for his shine than he does the team's success.

I am not going to complain about Payton's 4th down call. He tried, it failed. Remember the 4th down in the second game? People probably thought 'for chrissakes Payton, kick a goddamn field goal. Kamara punched it in and we all thought it was great. I will not knock him. If it was on our own 20 yard line? May have been a teensy bit annoyed.

Ill take this Payton with balls over the conservative Payton we had the last three years. That being said they are not going to work all the time but it has won us games this year so I am not going to cry win it fails. It looked like the defense was getting tired so he went for it.

That last 4th down play is why I love Payton. He plays to win the game. You essentially give yourself 2 chances to finish the game, one on defense and one on offense. I could care less about the percentages at that point, we have one of the most clutch QB's in NFL history. Do you want Michael Jordan taking the final shot or some rookie who has had a good year. Yes it didn't play out like we wanted but in the end the rookie aka our defense came through. We held on d in the red zone but they were doing a great job driving down the field all game. Loved the 4th down attempt on offense to finish it right there, most coaches don't have the balls and would be to worried about post postgame backlash and play it safe. I think it's the opposite of being about him.

3rd down efficiency this year is a real problem, and now they HAVE to do better there in these next games to keep winning.

We've got to do better on ALL third downs. Gonna be our Achilles heal.

TOTAL BS. They are talking about it on NFL channel right now. You stumble like a drunk in Mardi Gras, you go to the locker room

Re: What we learned after the Saints' playoff win against the Panthers

A Saints W is a Saints W. I'll take a W that ugly or nerve racking or close any day.
I would prefer to do without this kind of "on the edge " excitement.
There is no next week during these post season games.

What have I learned?
Same thing throughout the season.
I would them to W , but early on in the 1st and 2nd qrtr. Score high. Big lead. Keep it up. Saints won this game, but IF, IF CPanths had more time, they could have won too.

On to MiniVikings this week.
I want the Saints to W any way they can, but I sure would like them to be a big threat and win big and win early and win easy.

It's not that *****y at all. If we lost this game I would have called out his heart. You have to keep your foot on the throat. What I saw down the stretch reminded me of the week 6 game last season. And giving them two field goals around the halfway point is uncalled for.
