How are the Vikes the best D? They are good but they are no Jags. I watched the Jags maul the hell out of teams all season. They are not that team. Thielen also gets shutdown by good CB's. He's no Michael Thomas that's for damn sure. Oh, and they lost to the Panthers so not buying any of their BS hype. They are no better than us right now. Probably worse though because their QB has no playoff experience and is known to blow big games. Reason why he is a backup after being a starter and only a starter by default. He won't be a starter next year after tanking this game because that is what backups do.

Think drinking the kool aid right now but they fail to realize the Vikings resume and whos at QB.

They think its an easy win because its at home.

They are a very good team and rightly start as favourites at home. That said this Saints team is more than capable of going their and winning.

I've said this many times to Viqueen fans still crying over 'cheating' of 'Bountygate': The referees saw no violation of the rules, otherwise flags would have been thrown on the hits; The Saints gained no unfair advantage whatsoever by having 'bounties' (which incidentally, several NFL players on different teams said they do also); The whole controversy stemmed from Goodell being buttsore from the Saints D ignoring his warnings about the optics;
Simply put: Saints played Big Boy Ball and forced Favre into having a bad case of 'Happy Feet'. Saints win the NFC. Saints win the SB. Did I miss anything?

Actually, NO TEAM has ever admitted to having bounties because bounties never existed. On the other hand, virtually every team has had some sort of performance pool that paid for hard hits and big defensive plays. Big difference there. The Saints players have openly admitted to having a performance pool but have emphatically denied ever having anything that would promote intentionally injuring opposing players. In fact, the performance pool would not pay any play that resulted in an injury or was deemed illegal by the league or produced a penalty.

Just saying. We have far too many of our own fans with the misconception, as well.

Re: Saw this on a Vikings Board message board

To me this is a 50/50 game. Looking at both teams, I think the Vikes may have the advantage because they're at home. Scam put 350 on our defense last week but was not effective in the redzone. We also benefited from a couple of dropped passes, one that would've been a touchdown.

I'm not saying that the Saints can't beat the Vikes. I just think that this will be a tough one for both teams.

I'm optimistic that the Saints can win, if they go to Minny and play their best football. That defense is tough. The injury to Peat may have a pretty big impact. He's solid. And we don't have much after Kelemente if someone else goes down. We need the running game to be good to have any sort of control in this game. If not, it'll end up in a shoot out like last week.

I'll tell you one thing, I'm not looking past the Vikes. They're good. And though we're a completely different team than we were when we saw them earlier in the season, this is gonna be a tough one.

We can't beat these @ssholes enough for drubbing us in our first playoff appearance...

Vikings are one of those teams we just can't beat enough times, badly enough...

Keep it close and give Drew a chance to win it in the 4th. I like those odds.

Hear here! me too!

But i must admit the revenge factor does frighten me bit. It was more recent, but i doubt many if any players are still on the Minneapolis club.

We have two. (punter and QB)

A large part of our game plan in '09 is believed to be (true or not, it is believed to be) that we should hit Farve hard and often and at any opportunity - in short physically attack an aging but able QB.

It was his last game.

I hope they do not have a similar game plan against out aging but able QB.

That is part of every team's game plan against every team on every week during every year. We just happened to be FAR better at doing it than other teams.

There was a video on YouTube showing the times the Vikings hit Brees late and other fouls that weren't called; I haven't been able to find it

Thielen is great. He scares me for sure. Lattimore vs Thielen and Diggs will be fun to watch. I hope we get good pressure on Keenum all day.

I think you are correct - my fear is (for me) that we may pay... for me - all bets are off (for NOLA SAINTS) when facing Minneapolis in the post season.

For Minneapolis fans 2009 was not long ago. Their dome is comparable to ours - the fans will be fired up - it is loud in there - and it will cause problems.

That was a pretty soft schedule which would skew stats in their favor.

+1. The last 4 weeks (except the Panthers), the Vikes D have beaten up on below average offenses. Bears, Packers, Bengals are all at home.

This Saints team will give the Vikings all kind of fits.

Hey Coach......get the team ready again like you've been doing and we should be fine.

Re: Saw this on a Vikings Board message board

It's one of those things where you play the schedule in front of you.

The Vikings are nominally the #1 defense, on paper, but they lost to the Steelers, the Lions and Panthers. Those are all pretty good teams with above-decent-to-very-good offenses and QB's. Then their games against the Falcons, Lions and Redskins were all sorta close, almost nail biters or toss-ups. That list has one really good team and and two sorta half decent teams. Then the Vikes had that first game against the Saints, in which the Saints had a new young defense and a different offensive game plan from now, and the Vikes back then had a different quarterback, a different running back, and I don't think the Saints team overall had really had a chance to gell yet.

So I'm not saying the Vikes D are hot garbage, but I really don't see where the Vikes have played anybody really difficult or tough offensively, this year except for the Steelers, Lions and Panthers, which they lost all three; and the Falcons, which they won but it was a very close game. So I guess we shall see how tough they really are. But Drew has played against tough or stout defenses before, and won. So I feel pretty good about it.

Exactly. I have been trying to share exactly what Hargrove quoted in the article for years ...

Quote:

“It wasn’t a bounty, where you name one guy and offer money for him,” said Saints defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove. “It was incentives for good plays, hard hits, changing the game. We all put in, and maybe you could get $100, $200, $500. That’s what it was.”
