Yeah, they were both brutal. Our defense is responsible for arguably the 2 worst defensive possessions in NFL postseason history. This one is tough because at least back then Drew was 32. We have a lot of good, young players but a QB with probably 1-2 years left before we need to start over at the most important position. With a window this small, this loss will go down as the worst one in franchise history.

Maybe, but I'm excited. We're going to be back with another good draft, health, and a good FA move or two. Bring on training camp!

I am proud of this team and what they accomplished but there is no getting over how much this one stings. we were the better team tonight and we had the win. It is so hard to get to the super bowl, never know what next year brings. This stings...stings bad. We had a shot to go to another SB. I hope williams gets over this because he is going to be a good player

Here’s the thing... Williams was trying to avoid getting there too early and being flagged for PI. Don’t blame Williams, blame how stupid the rules are now that a safety can’t even hit a damn WR and they have to purposely whiff on a tackle to avoid the flag.

Well, just dang.......................:bang:

Still, 11-5 and a post season win at home in the Super Dome ain't bad. It's a move in the right direction .

All he had to do was wait for Diggs to catch the ball and grab him, he just dived through mid air. No excuse for it, he messed up and lost us the game.

As bad as the refs were all game, I doubt they would of thrown a flag there. Heck, even if he was afraid of a targeting flag it would of only been 15 yards and they would of been right around mid field with 4 seconds left. Can't be afraid to make a play there.

With a stopped clock!

Tackle the WR and the clock runs out before they can kick the FG!

I agree, even if Diggs makes the catch; wrap up and drive him backwards. Even if he goes out of bounds the clock would still keep running and game was over.

You don't avoid PI by ducking your head and shoulder tackling. Great teaching tape to show exactly why you keep your head up and drive through the ball. Grrrr......

I agree, he should of just wrapped him up but if he was afraid of a targeting that call doesn't give them a game winning TD and they wouldn't of been in FG range with only 15 yards. Obviously the smart play was wrap up and drive him backwards. That ends the game.

I think he was trying to avoid hitting him.

This game and season ended just like the past several seasons played out. Though Brees looked bad in the first half his second half performance was typical Drew. His arm essentially won the game until one big mistake by the D ended it.

The difference is the Saints have a young core and an improving D. Unfortunately, another chance for Drew to bring home a ring is gone, and he doesn’t have many left.

I'm proud as as can be of this team. After the second game of the season it sure looked like we would struggle to win 3 games all year and that defense looked like it was going to break it's own record of defensive futility. But low and behold our youngsters started playing like vets, minus the last play tonight, and the injuries, oh my the injuries. It seemed every time we lost someone the next man up came in and produced. Unfortunately the injuries and the youth finally caught up with us. This team played it's hearts out dammit and I for one am one proud Saints fan tonight. I'm not upset over this loss. Heartbroken? Yes. But not upset. I don't blame Williams, he's young and made a rookie mistake. If he were a veteran then yes I would be ready to run him out of town. I didn't think we had a chance against this defense down 17 but by golly this team showed heart and perseverance and darned near pulled it out. So proud of this team and what they will bring to the table next year. WHO DAAAAAATTTT!!!!!

I love the way Sean calls a time out when he's got a game wrapped up with one play left... and loses. He has no grasp of the concept "time out".

that was a good timeout call, it allowed our defense to rest. good timeout call, cant take them with you. How the **** does that have anything, i mean anything to do with the outcome.

Actually SP called the TO after the first down play. Maybe he should of waited till the last play to call one to make sure everyone on the defense knew what they were doing.

I know that this is a team game but I am putting this loss on one player. Everyone was in a position to stop the play, one player had an opportunity and blew it. Not only did he completely miss, he actually tackled Crawley who may have had an opportunity to tackle. I don't believe the time out called was a problem.

We wouldn’t have even had the lead if not for his interception swinging the momentum our way.

LSU stabbed me in the gut and the Saints stabbed me in the heart. Both with the same knife. They both ended their season on the esstentially the same friggin’ play.

Dude I know this for sure, if this is bothering me this much then a player who has sweat and bled with the other players has to be hurting. I sent him a tweet and think everyone should. I am talking about something uplifting. We all **** up in our jobs daily, dude has to be hurting, no need to pile on

Re: Saints at Vikings Divisional Game Day Thread

If he tackled him inbound or just held him so he couldn't get out of bounds. Game over saints win. He wasn't looking to try to get out of bounds when he caught it. Still if he did get out of bounds that don't guarantee Forbath would've made the field goal.

Yes he had a great season and he had a great game minus the last 10 seconds. This sting so dayum bad and they will replay this until the season is over, continuing to watch the playoffs will reopen this wound. I just hope he have a strong support group in the locker room and family. We will need him next season, hopefully he can rebound

Re: Saints at Vikings Divisional Game Day Thread

If they would've just got that 1st down before Lutz kicked the (wining) field goal. It would've never been 25 seconds left on the clock. This was a team lost and it hurts so bad cause it was in the grasp.

I collected my anger. I am not over it but comparing on how I was feeling at the start of the season I at least have hope. Geaux Saints

Guys like you are awesome for doing this, you know he's going to get a ton of hate. I unfortunately cannot pull myself to say anything positive to him but I'm not gonna troll him either because I know he's hurting. Actually, a bunch of members on this board have impressed me with the positive comments about the season. I'm sure I'll get there at some point, but tonight I just can't find the positive.

Poor kid played his heart out and wiffed huge on the biggest play of the season. I’m not mad, still in shock really. I hope he has a good head on his shoulders and a support staff. A weak mind may never recover. Williams is our future center fielder. Let’s hope it lights a fire in him.

Not without anther cb. Crawley needs to be our nickel. Pj needs to be shipped to Russia. We need another cb, wr, te and some online/dline depth.
