Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
In light of the results of the game yesterday where MinniHaha was wiped off the football field, would the Saints have provided a better matchup and hence a better game? Would we have even won the game, or were our injuries simply too much to overcome? :bng:

Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
As much as it pains me to say this, no one could have beaten Philly last night. It was their night to shine.

Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
I think the game would have been closer. I think the only reason Minn got as far as they did was their Defense. Outside of that they didn't have the offense to beat a team like Philly.
The other think I liked about Philly was they didn't mess around. Instead of running the clock out at the half they put the foot down and drove the ball down field. GO FOR THE WIN all or nothing. Homefield adavantage also huge. |
Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
This is why I wanted Atlanta to beat Philly.
In any case...Minnesota got lucky on Sunday when you consider that now they won't be the first team to lose a Superbowl in their home stadium. |
Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
Good question......I'd like to think we would have won.

Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
We won’t find out till next season!

Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
Might have been a post-birdie FU by the Vikings- pretty hard to continue a high level of play after such an emotional game.
That, and Philly was just lights out good. Would we have won? Yes |
Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
Yes, maybe, one thing for sure, it would have been a lot better game.
|
Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
Yes I do think we would have won because having been given little chance of winning against the Vikings and then doing so, the Saints as always, use the negative from the pundits and media to up their game and try and prove people wrong.
We again, would have been given the underdog tag going to the Eagles, understandably but I think that would have been the fuel the Saints would have needed to get the win. Looking forward to see how things go for us next season. GEAUX SAINTS! WHO DAT! :-) |
Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
Maybe, maybe not.
Saints must find a way to secure home field next year. The off season (free agency), upcoming draft & guys staying healthy will be key to our success. |
Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
As it hurts to say, I think both Divisional losers got the shaft this season.
That includes the Saints and Falcons. I dont like the Falcons, its fans, or how they operate, but them as well as us are heads and shoulders better than the Vikings or Eagles and would of been way better matchup to the patriots who will most likely sail to victory in the SB. This is where home field advantage got to be too much of an advantage this year with 2 teams with lack luster resumes getting the byes. |
Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
Yes and the Vikings beat us with that one in never again play

Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
Considering dome teams are now 0-13 when conference championship games are played outside, history wouldn't be on our side.
But I have to believe that because a few short years ago the Saints got their first ever road playoff win in Philly, the team knows they can win there. Plus the Eagles and their fans would remember Ingram running the ball down their throats! |
Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
I'd like to think we'd won. It's a very difficult thing to answer though and nobody will ever really know. I get that Philly blew out the team that beat us. Football isn't some 1 to 1 linear thing though... and is very much a game of match-ups. Often it's more like rock paper scissors than anything.
I know we matched up with Philly better than Minnesota did. That's all I will say. |
Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
Yes.

Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
We would have given Philly a better game, Keenum finally got exposed.
One things for sure you wouldn't catch me in their stadium as an away Fan. I made that mistake once, believe me those Fans are Barbaric. They were attacking their own Police Dept. |

Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
Hard to say, I do know it would have been a completely different game. I am confident Drew would have recovered from the pick, better than Keenum. Vikes d looked toasted from the start. Philly looked good, thought Pederson called a pretty good game for foles. Oh well, on to next year
|
Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
Since we'll never really know...Hell Yeah! We woulda blown them out.
Drew throws for 400 passing yards, Ingram and Kamara each go for over a hundred rushing yards.. Against that defense, a 50 burger easily. On the other side of the ball, Lattimore picks of Foles at least twice and Cam Jordan gets at least 4 sacks. A fumble recovery for a touchdown wouldn't surprise me either. They might have got a field goal in garbage time, otherwise it woulda been a shut out. Hypothetically speaking of course. |

And why are we doing this to ourselves? We're better than the Falcons and other kids...

no, the league decides who wins. Eagles were winning no matter who was on the other side.

Re: Could The Saints Have Beat Philly?
Of course we could have. That is the thing with parity in the NFL. The teams are so much closer in talent level than one might think that the old adage "any given sunday" really is true.
