1 Attachment(s)
Henderson, 71, made the announcement on WWL Radio following a season where the team returned to glory following several years of average play.
wwltv.com | Jim Henderson retires as 'voice of the Saints' Thanks for the memories Jim. You will be irreplaceable. |
Re: Jim Henderson announces retirement
Jim is a legend :praise:. Lots of memorable calls over the years. Those will be big shoes to fill.
Enjoy retirement! |
Re: Jim Henderson announces retirement
We're a fortunate fanbase to have had him...

Re: Jim Henderson announces retirement
That sucks things won’t be the same. I wonder if it’s because Hoakie croaked or if he just can’t stand to have to sit and listen to Deuces aweful radio personality every Sunday.
Wonder who will replace him. Can’t keep Heber Sober long enough and Deke couldn’t handle it. |
Re: Jim Henderson announces retirement
The consummate professional. I don't see anyone in the wings to replace him.

Re: Jim Henderson announces retirement
Didn't realize he was 70 years old. Best of Luck Jim, after all the bad seasons he had to sit through, glad he got to see them win it all.

Re: Jim Henderson announces retirement
Saddest day. He's my favorite sports voice. No matter who it is, he won't be replaced with anyone good enough to live up to his standard.

Re: Jim Henderson announces retirement
My ears already miss him........he was very informative and entertaining.

Re: Jim Henderson announces retirement
To be honest I haven't heard him in anything other than select replays on radio. Ever since we got Sunday Ticket many years ago when it first came out I have never had a reason to listen to a game.

Re: Jim Henderson announces retirement
It was different for me, as most folks would turn the volume down and listen while watching. Not me. As I've mentioned here before I have been listening to Jim since my childhood, as we rarely get to watch the noon games, traveling home on Sundays from deer camp. Sleeping in the back seat of my dad's Bronco, praying to God he didn't have a massive heart attack listening to the Saints find ways to lose. I can remember as far back as the early 80s (and maybe even late 70s), that was how we got our Saints games.
Won't be the same without you, Jim. You will be missed dearly. |

There is another guy I miss on the air waves. His delivery was spot on & he was a terrific on air personality. I can only imagine the sports stories he's shared with his grand kids. Side note & true story ... Mr. Henderson stayed (pre flood of 2016) a block away from my mom in Park Forest Subdivision/Baton Rouge. Great broadcaster and also a cool neighbor ;). |
