Yeah, but he has big bodies in front helping out. We could use another big body at DE, or NT. Can we do both?

This guy could be a sneaky good pick for us. He might actually be a better scheme fit than Rashaan Evans. Look, the fact of the matter is that there aren’t 32 first round prospects and picking later means we’ll likely have to reach a little bit.

What's his story Chris ? A lot of reports have him as a Day 2 & 3 draft selection.

With as many as 6-7 QB's getting taken before we draft, the #1-2 guys at their positions will still be there.
Other than running back, I won't be surprised at any pick we make.

Just starting to do more research. I’ve been hearing Brian Urlacher comparisons for a while now.

The voices inside the league comparing Vander Esch to former Mountain West star Brian Urlacher continue to get louder. He continues to be pegged as a three-down defender, and from everything I’m hearing he will test great at the combine.- DraftAnalyst.com

6’4”, 240 lbs and projected to run in the 4.6 range. Best traits are his high football IQ and non-stop motor.

Compiling average mock drafts among CBS/NFL Draft Scout, DraftTek, Kiper, McShay, Miller, Walter, PFF - I'm liking these guys at No. 27 if the draft were today...

2018 New Orleans Saints Draft Prospects (Updated 2018/02/14)

No. 27 (R1, 27) DT Taven Bryan, Florida; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 295 lbs.
No. 27 (R1, 27) C Frank Ragnow, Arkansas; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 319 lbs.
No. 27 (R1, 27) NT Vita Vea, Washington; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 332 lbs.
No. 27 (R1, 27) TE Dallas Goedert, South Dakota St.; Height: 6’ 4”, Weight: 255 lbs.
No. 27 (R1, 27) DE Sam Hubbard, Ohio St.; Height: 6’ 5”; Weight: 265 lbs.

Should LB Leighton Vander Esch, Boise St.; Height: 6’ 4”, Weight: 245 lbs. grade and interview well at the combine, pro day, and if you factor in his quick reads and instinctive play - then I'd very much be on-board with taking him at 27...

How do you lose with a Defensive Lineman named Bone Crusher?

Okay, so I'm updating my Wish List for No. 27 early before the Combine...

2018 New Orleans Saints Draft Prospects (Updated 2018/02/19)

No. 27 (R1, 27) LB Leighton Vander Esch, Boise St.; Height: 6’ 4”; Weight: 245 lbs.
No. 27 (R1, 27) DT Taven Bryan, Florida; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 295 lbs.
No. 27 (R1, 27) NT Vita Vea, Washington; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 332 lbs.
No. 27 (R1, 27) C Frank Ragnow, Arkansas; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 319 lbs. No. 27 (R1, 27) TE Dallas Goedert, South Dakota St.; Height: 6’ 4”, Weight: 255 lbs.

Vander Esch now gets the nod over Bryan, but not by much; obvious need over upgrading Rankins is why I made the switch...
