2018 NFL FA - Who do we sign?
 
FA I think could improve us without breaking the bank:

WR John Brown - AZ
WR Danny Amendola - NE
TE Trey Burton - PHI
DT Star Lotulelei - Car
DT Bennie Logan - KC
LB Zach Brown - WA
Slot CB Aaron Colvin - Jax

I do too. I think if I could pick 3 that would have the greatest impact it would be Lotulelei, Brown and Colvin.

Burton and Brown are nice to haves.

What about Star JP? It’s no secret Fairly was counted on to be the man and he was sorely missed. I feel like Star could make our D line tremendously strong.

Let me preface first then quantify my response...

I'll be the first to tell you that I don't believe ProFootballFocus and their objective grading system is an absolute...

However, let's use it for perspective, if you will...

Tyeler Davison had an overall grade of 81.0 (0 Sk, 22 Tk), followed by David Onyemata 80.9 (2 Sk, 18 Tk), then Sheldon Rankins 80.7 (2 Sk, 16 Tk)...

Lotulelei's previous years' grades: 2013, 81.1 (3 Sk, 34 Tk); 2014, 79.8 (2 Sk, 21 Tk); 2015, 62.5 (1 Sk, 13 Tk); 2016, 69.7 (4 Sk, 14 Tk)...

Star Lotulelei overall score for this past year, 2017? Ouch, 49.5 (1 Sk, 6 Tk)...

Again, PFF grading isn't some absolute, but that significant a drop in any scale is alarming, and the production, or lack thereof, is in the stat books...

We need help all along the defensive line, but if we're gonna spend, make it count like Jimmy Graham at Tight End, Avery Williamson or Anthony Hutchens at MLB...

Real Upgrades on the D-line would have to come in the draft; maybe geaux after a guy that is versatile, effective but a RFA - David Irving, DAL...

Of course, Tyrunn Walker is looking for employment...

That's a good point which I'll counter you - Luke hasn't gotten protection, has been getting beat up, a lot, this past two, three seasons as well...

Guys up front aren't protecting their MLB as they once did either...

Oh, now you're talking; only concern is whether he was a one-year wonder or not...

I like signing the Cowboys Anthony Hutchens as a MLB, but can play the WLB as he covers well...

Then we're not in a situation to take a MLB in the first three rounds...

(yeah, I know we've gotta make a trade to get a second rounder)...

His name has come up quite a bit up here at Death Star nation ... good player next to Sean Lee but struggled a bit in coverage.

Spotrac estimates he will command 4 year @ 25M. Probably enough to keep him in Dallas, but anything above that he's probably a ghost around these parts.

Never thought about John Brown but he makes a lot of sense here.

I want Burton. He's exactly the TE we want in our offense.

I don't watch football anymore other than my beloved Saints so i don't have a clue who's good and who's not. I remember some of these guys from their draft profile though.

But you are right, he sure did vanish in Buffalo. In Philly ... he played well & I'd argue he's probably an upgrade over Slick Willie and won't command high dollar.
