Could??? I’ve been banging my hands on the table for what, 7 years now?

Yep. Gotta get a sideline to sideline assassin. Klein, Robertson and Teo are nice pieces but we need a dawg with speed in the middle.

Saints have done a great job of improving the talent at the MLB using the Free Agency, and that trend continues...

But when you look at what's available in Free Agency, there's not really an improvement to what we have...

And I wouldn't be suprised if we re-sign Gerald Hodges and spend one or even two draft picks on linebackers...

Fred Warner (BYU) could be a terrific mid-round weak side LB.

Free Agents Zach Brown, Nigel Bradham, Damario Davis, Todd Davis, Brian Cushing are upgrades and improve the area with speed.

No way the Saints FA should be content with our current group of linebackers.

As for college LB prospects ...

Rashaan Evans
Tremaine Edmunds
Lorenzo Carter
Malik Jefferson

Love this player. Just made a post last night about him in the draft prospects thread as a matter of fact. I can’t understand why he’s not getting more hype.

These is no way we spend a rd 1 on a lb and probably not the rd3. Depth is needed on the lines, cb, wr and we need a TE that will show up. At best lb is # 6 on our list.

How can you be so certain? If the best player available on Jeff Ireland's draft board happens to be a linebacker, he'll select a linebacker @ pick 27.

If Leighton Vander Esch runs a sub 7.0 three cone drill, he could find himself taken as high as pick 13 with Washington...

I'd really like to see someone like that be there when we pick at No. 27...

Mike Mayock top guy at LB is Trey Edmunds over Roquan Smith? Vander Esch over Rashaan Evans? Surely his opinion/rankings will change after Combine and Pro Day.

Major, read this in its entirety by the NFL Draft Scout group - it'll address many of your questions; one of the better reads so far this Draft Season...

NFL Draft profile: Boise State LB Vander Esch a rising star – NFL Draft Scout

We were seconds from spending a first round pick last season. We also used a first round pick on anthony.

To say there’s “no way” is to forget how many of our starting LBs finished the season last year.

We need an upgrade at LB. preferably ILB.
We need an upgrade at CB, WR, TE.

And that’s before FA...

Re: Saints position outlook: New Orleans could justify adding more talent at linebacker

The failure on Stephone Anthony definitely kept this team from the Superbowl this past season...

Anthony's failure to progress at NFL level, Joe Vitt's coaching incompetence, Payton's procrastination in making coaching changes, Dennis Allen's inability to build a defense to take advantage of Anthony's skill set...

But Anthony had a standout rookie season, then flopped; Saints aren't talking, Anthony's not talking...

Whatever the problem is, it better get fixed before we spend another pick on a MIKE Backer that we desperately need to anchor this offense...

Yes. Aaron Rodgers dropped into the 20's, so anything is possible.

We better take BPA at 27. Smith would be that BPA if he fell.
