DE Muhammad Wilkerson... should we?

The Jets announced last week they were moving on from defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, but it didn’t become official until Monday when Wilkerson was listed on the NFL’s transaction wire.

It was purely a housekeeping move as Wilkerson already had set up a visit with the Packers.

Wilkerson, 28, has only eight sacks in 28 games over the past two seasons.

He had 44.5 sacks in his seven seasons in New York after the Jets drafted him in the first round.

K would much rather have Sheldon Richardson at the same 10 to 12 million it would take to sign him . We do need a DT to replace Fairley and shore up our rotation. Richardson is a more versatile player.

Looks like Wilkerson is likely to sign with the Packers.

In return, the Rams will reportedly receive a fourth- and sixth-round pick. They're also sending a 2019 seventh-round pick to the Giants.

WTF! I would've love for the saints to pull that trade

Ian Rapoport
@RapSheet
Former #Jets DL Mo Wilkerson is leaving Green Bay after his #Packers visit and sources say he’s headed to visit the #Saints next. That’s an intriguing option for a rapidly improving D.

Talent wise he is on Cam Jordan level. There are some red flags. Prove it deal could be best option for both sides. Players these days bet on themselves and sign 1 year deals. Alshon Jeffery and Crabtree were rewarded with big extensions. Maybe Wilkerson can revive his career in Saints uniform. :)

Don't know enough to say no on Mo.

Why not Danny Shelton since Browns let him leave as Free Agent?

Jordan - Davison/Onyemata - Rankins - Wilkerson/Hendrickson

I’m not sure where Wilkerson would fit. The obvious answer would be the 1 or 3 technique. But I wonder... could he play strong side DE while Jordan plays more on the open end?

Look there was lots of debate about Nick too, and I for one thought it was a bad signing. I was wrong. I think we kick the tires with the right deal. Maybe change of scenery is what the doctor ordered. I just keep thinking how much more bad ass this d would have been last year if Nick's heart had not broke. I will trust the front office, they got their mojo back

Come on down Mo. He would allow us to draft a young NT to have possibly one of the best rotations on that front line in the league. Talk about deep on the ends and middle. The guy can play multiple positions on the line and is effective playing them all.

Danny isn't a free agent.

I question Muhammad's desire. I'm all for improving the defensive front 7 but I'm not so sure about this guy.

Re: DE Muhammad Wilkerson... should we?

Wilkerson would be a huge signing. Who the hell wanted to play for the Jets? They have sucked for so many years. Motivation is a big thing for guys like Mo, they already have the money, if he wants to win we should sign him.

If we get a motivated Wilkerson he can be a beast.

Perhaps the Saints didn't want to offer him anything after speaking with him. It is a two way street after all. He does come with quite a bit of "extra baggage".

Repeating myself from BG Blog, but the more I think about it, the more I wonder what kind of fit he'd be as he's played in a 3-4?

Or his agent isn't in the negotiating phase yet. I've seen high profile agents in the past make numerous visits, then negotiate later. I think the term is called "meet and greet".

I'll trust the FO on whatever happens with this dude (not a fan of Mo).

He's pretty versatile and has played inside and out.

I'd be surprised if he signed early with anyone as he is the epitome of a wild card. Market will set the price, but I could see him getting a very wide range of offers.

If he wants an incentive-laden deal like Sherman, I'd take him.

Muhammad Wilkerson doesn't fall under that since he was released by the Jets. That only applies to UFA's who are still under contract until March 14.

Right contract and I'm all in. Big risk big reward. Motivation is the key. Motivated he is a difference maker. How much does he want it????
