That’s... Surprisingly low.

Lotta misinformation out there right now. On local talk radio I heard a few days ago Vikes were offering Cousins 3 yr/90 million guaranteed then...nothing, now they're after Brees. Yeah, right.

You obviously didn’t read my whole post. I said if we lose Drew we would have no choice but to trade up. We will take a 18 million dead money cap hit if he’s not not signed by us before 4pm Wednesday. What qb out there could we sign with the money left? None worth a damn. Sign drew or move up. These are the only two options.

I call bullcrap. I was watching when Casserly pulled that figure out of his ass because of what he said the Saints paid him the last contract per year. There was no basis in fact, it was what he would have "thought" they would have ponied up.

Dumb****.

You’ve been a huge “saints will sign drew” vocalist. What do you believe the hold up is? Less than two days to go.

Oh and if they screw this up and lose drew they need to trade for foles. Only one we could Afford that could step in day one.

Then there is no hold up. Drew's deals have always gone to the wire. He's the largest expense. Makes sense why it takes time.

I have posted for months that I expect the finalization of the deal to take place at the very last second once both sides know what the Saints front office needs for cap space in relation to free agency. Finalizing any deal prior to that point limits the flexibility needed to be most effective in making other deals.

There is no good reason why any Brees deal needs to be made before then and pacifying Saints fans is not a good reason. To be honest, it really doesn't even HAVE to be made before then. They Saints could take the $18M hit and structure the new deal to only have let's say a $4 base with a $40M roster bonus due March 2019 which could then be converted to a signing bonus and prorated over the final four years of a contract with higher year two through year four base salaries. The possibilities are endless in how deals can be structured. But this would still leave the 2018 cap hit at $22M even with the $18M hit from the previous voided deal.

Exactly! What is the rush? Everyone involved KNOWS a deal is going to be made. If there was any issue don't you think that Loomis, Payton and Brees all there at Strief's retirement press conference would have appeared to be far less relaxed? I just don't get why some fans getting so antsy.
