Can LSU's Brian Bridgewater be a hidden gem?
 

One potential late-round gem? LSU prospect Brian Bridgewater, who just like All-Pro tight end Antonio Gates, is trying to make the transition from college basketball player to NFL tight end.

"The tight end position really fits my style," Bridgewater said. "Just looking at previous basketball players that have transitioned over to football and the success they have had at the tight end position, that is what we have been working on the last couple of months."

Like Gates, Bridgewater (6-foot-4, 280 pounds) passed up offers from some of the top football programs in the country -- including Alabama -- to play basketball.

"I had been playing basketball for a longer time, and I just had more love for it honestly," Bridgewater said. "I probably should have went football, but I was just too into basketball to give it up."
