Any Faith In Willie
Just wondering if anyone here has any real faith in Snead making a 'comeback' this year and helping out on 3rd down...like he used to.
I like the dude - I want him to be the guy. Am I just :censored: in the wind? :bng: |
Re: Any Faith In Willie
I feel the same way. I think he had to of realized his mistakes from last off season. It's the reason he didn't get a decent contract. He lost focus. I think he can make a difference this year like he's done in the past.

We need another target.

Re: Any Faith In Willie
I don't know what all went on with Willie last year, and neither do any of you. Any assumptions as to why he had a crappy year are purely speculative. He had 1,879 yards in two seasons as not the primary receiver, nor really even the second guy. You can't throw the money truck at him right now, but I wouldn't just flush him either.

Re: Any Faith In Willie
I do.
Snead gained a few pounds & it appears he was a tad out of shape during his 3 game suspension. Then he aggravated his hamstring which somewhat delayed getting back in "game shape". I didn't see the burst on his routes that we were accustomed to in previous years. 2017 was a bad year (on and off the field) for Slick Willie but I have confidence he'll return to form this season. |

Re: Any Faith In Willie
Snead just had a forgettable year with lot of pressure to break out and things just kept falling away from him...
Look at his stats like this:
So who's the really Willie Snead IV? Looking at the numbers, a 26yo player, with a Brees-led offense, he'll bounce back just fine... Snead has more talent than Lance Moore, he'll use the offseason to get right and get back to that 3rd down defensive back breaker for us... Don't spend money in FA unless someone like a J. Matthews tier is interested in a one year min deal to pad states with Brees for a better deal next season... Someone like that could come in, push Snead and Ginn; I would target a WR on Day 3 of the draft to develop behind them to start for 2019... |
Re: Any Faith In Willie
If Drew doesn't have faith in him, why should I?
|
Re: Any Faith In Willie
Don't we have that Austin dude from the Patriots ? What's he been up to?
|
Re: Any Faith In Willie
On one hand he showed even with his extremely limited play due to his own screw up he and Brees are still on the same page. Other hand so what. Many many other Wr's out there that are bigger, faster and not going to screw over the team. No. He is gone.

Re: Any Faith In Willie
We let Coleman walk so the front office has some faith in him. He is a good down field blocker and I still feel the need for Snead!
|
Re: Any Faith In Willie
Given that the saints are in the running for Hurns, it doesn't appear they think so.
|
Re: Any Faith In Willie
No he is short and I hold that against him!
No, I don't make sense. |
Re: Any Faith In Willie
If he can't get open on some deep routes or make some nice runs being shifty or breaking tackles, then I think his value is pretty limited. Brandon Coleman, Willie Snead and Tommylee Lewis each have some good skills but I'd like a stud to put next to Mike Thomas.

Re: Any Faith In Willie
Saints WR Willie Snead is visiting the Ravens as a restricted free agent, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Saints would have the right to match any offer that Snead signs elsewhere. But they would receive no draft-pick compensation if they let him go, since they tendered him at the lowest level.

Re: Any Faith In Willie
Plenty of receivers available. Won't miss him.

Re: Any Faith In Willie
If you get a DUI that is massively over the blood limit, at 6:30 AM in the morning, that is a reflection on character, work ethic, and professionalism. Hate to be critical, but this past year he looked and played like somebody who was partying too hard, out of shape, and not aggressive....he crashed his car while blind drunk at 6:30 AM folks....if he'd stayed at the club an hour later he could have maybe hit a little old lady on her way to church, or worse.... Snead is one of those players who prefers the night club over the ball club....sorry. Will he bounce back? Maybe. It's entirely up to him.

Re: Any Faith In Willie
Willie could have been / may be a great receiver in the NFL. The guy showed a lot of promise in Year 1, but I think he needs to go somewhere else at this point. Too much baggage with the Saints to show his true potential...whatever that may be. Once your reputation is questioned, you never get that back unfortunately.

Re: Any Faith In Willie
My faith in him as a scrappy undrafted free agent was already thin. My faith in him now is dangling by a frayed thread. Really would rather we upgrade.
