The Saints are considering another reunion in free agency. They hosted TE Benjamin Watson on a visit, according to ESPN's Field Yates. That move would make a ton of sense, since Sean Payton just labeled tight end as a "must," and since the Saints and Watson were such a great fit the last time around. Watson was elected as a team captain in New Orleans and had a career season in 2015 with 74 catches, 825 yards and 6 TDs. Watson is now 37 years old, and he tore his Achilles with the Ravens in 2016. But he bounced back nicely with 61-522-4 while playing all 16 games last year.

IIRC Benjamin had more TD receptions than Hill, Fleener and Hoomanawanui combined last season. Still a good blocker, solid hands, great mentor & locker room presence. Not bad to say he's on "old man".

I hope they sign him.

It's a good signing. Low risk and as you stated, decent stats last year and a good blocker which is critical. I think his receiving stats will be roughly about the same. Maybe a slight uptick. I still think we draft a TE if that is the best player available.

We didn’t think he had much left the first time we signed him. Boy were we wrong. Should have never let him get away. Great locker room guy and probably could wind up being a good 3rd down guy.

Good depth, and a much needed band aid for or TE corps. He'll at least provide solid depth and some sneaky red zone targets.

Contract details for Watson have not been released, but we have 1.8 tied up in Hill, 1.3 in Michael H, another 555,000 in Griffin, and of course the 8 mill in the albatross, Fleener.

Somebody won't be around opening day.

Speaking of the albatross (FLEENER), was anyone he had 5 concussions last season? Scary. Kind of telling why coach Payton didn't target him a lot on those flats or short 5 yard intermediate routes.
