QB JACKSON

Ok, I am starting to lean towards drafting him with our first round pick.

I said it here... it will never happen no matter what Payton says.

Re: QB JACKSON

I sure hope not. Seems like every time I watched him he sucked. LSU didnt just hold him in check, they smashed him.

He's wearing Archie's old number... is it destiny? :bng:

None of the qbs in this draft impressed me. they all seem mediocre at best

Re: QB JACKSON

WOW... he scored a 13 on the Wonderlic!

Aaron Brooks anyone?

Wonderlic scores for 2018 QBs

Josh Allen: 37
Josh Rosen: 29
Sam Darnold: 28
Baker Mayfield: 25
Lamar Jackson: 13

I think Jim Kelly scored a 15 and Marino a 16.

Re: QB JACKSON

He's a bigger armed, more athletic Aaron Brooks. Now, sitting for two years behind Drew and with Payton, the Saints could do worse. I personally say no. I really believe Mayfield is going to fall. Other than him, I think the Saints need to draft at any other position.

Re: QB JACKSON

Can he read a defense because most qb can make throws without a rush and not needing to read a defense..

Write it down, Allen will be the best out of this draft class. He is the next luck or Big Ben. Dudes skills are insane.

Aaron Brooks had an absolute cannon. I watched him win the long ball contest at a QB challenge one year throwing the ball 78 yds. Aaron Brooks had a cannon he just had a long windup and slow release. Personally, I say Taysom Hill is bigger and just as fast as Lamar Jackson. Why draft Lamar Jackson when we've got a similair athlete on the roster already?

Serious accuracy issues with this guy. Jemarcus Russel was a better passer in college.

Re: QB JACKSON

In no scenario would I be ok with drafting Lamar Jackson. It will end up being a wasted pick.

I would pass...

Re: QB JACKSON

Strong arm. Amazing athlete.

But... weird mechanics. inaccurate passer. Never looked like a game changer in the big matchups.

He’ll definitely be there at 27 because he needs time to develop. I’m hoping we nab a player who can be a day 1 starter.

Re: QB JACKSON

He has accuracy issues but I'm not worried about him learning the playbook. Bobby Patrino has a complex playbook. I Hate Louisville because I am a Kentucky fan but this kids skills are crazy. His character is top notch and his offensive line sucked badly. My only worry is accuracy and mid range passes.

Re: QB JACKSON

Pass on QB this year. The ones at the top aren’t worth being selected there.
Darnold is a turnover machine, Allen misses open receivers, Rosen will more than likely be injured more than he plays.

Re: QB JACKSON

Drafting Jackson assures we won't hold onto Manziel if the saints sign him. That might be the only reason I would want Jackson to be drafted.

Why Manziel? He could never read defenses while with Cleveland, has a below average arm and mentally he hasn't shown that he can handle the NFL. Try to master the CFL first.

The Saints simply don't need the media circus. We're trying to win another Super Bowl.

"PASS" ON A QB UNLESS HE'S FROM GA TECH, FRONT OFFICE CAN ONCE AGAIN BE "ALL ABUZZ!!"

Rugby Saint II 03-31-2018 07:26 PM

Re: QB JACKSON

He may be a better athlete than QB. A strong arm didn't help AB! You need some intangibles like Drew who is damn smart.

Re: QB JACKSON

This is not the draft to draft for the future. This team came within 1 game of the NFC title. Go after today's needs and today's needs only.

Re: QB JACKSON

This BS of Payton saying he'd change the offense when we have the best offense in the land - why mess with what's working???

NFL still hasn't caught up with Brees/Payton's West Coast Zone Offense...We have the right linemen, the right X receiver, and an amazing duo of RBs for the system...

Only QB that is remotely similar to Brees is Mayfield and I don't think the league is going to blink through 26 picks the way they did with Lattimore...

Reggie Bush was supposed to be all that - and even Payton couldn't make it work...

If we don't shore up that front seven with the first round pick, even if we have to move up or down to do so, then we're not as all in for this season as we should be...

We should stand pat and see what defender falls, if it's not there, move back get an add'l late 2 or early 3 cause this draft is nearly as deep as last year...

Re: QB JACKSON

Johnny Manziel nailed it. Think he score upper 30. Means nothing IMO. Many pro bowlers did awful on it. Nothing to do with football instincts.

It's just all this stuff coming out that he thinks he can get back to playing NFL football because he's on medication for his BPD. And the fact that SP is not the same personality wise and is all about that lifestyle. There were fears he was going after Mayfield(and still may) and he already hung out with Manziel.

Johnny Manziel is legitimately bi-polar. Continuing to compare him to Baker Mayfield is silly. Everyone (I know I did) parties in college. That doesn't make them Johnny Manziel.

Re: QB JACKSON

NO.

A certain type of QB has not won an SB since 1988 until Russell Wilson did it in 2014. 26 years. Wilson has a Wonderlic of 28.

I'll pass on a 13.
