Huge rugby player has impressive workout for NFL scouts
A handful of international athletes who would like to see if they have what it takes to make it in the NFL went to Tampa to work out in front of scouts last weekend, and one athlete stood out: Jordan Mailata.
Mailata is a 20-year-old, 6-foot-8, 346-pound Samoan rugby player who currently competes for a team in Sydney, Australia, and he showed that he has the natural athleticism to play at the NFL level. He had a 5.12-second 40-yard dash and a 4.67-second short shuttle, both of which are excellent times for a man his size. “I felt today went well,” Mailata told NFL.com. “This was my first chance to go through the positional drills in front of teams and I hope they got a chance to see the progress I have made as I try to master the position.” PFT One year prove it deal? |

No. This upcoming season isn't the year for projects. This upcoming season is all hands on deck so we can can all do the TwoDat Boogie in the ATL. It's taken nearly 3 years for Onyemata to reach his potential as a raw prospect.
No time for projects. We're in win now mode. SFIAH |

Re: Huge rugby player has impressive workout for NFL scouts
Keep that man at tailback. Christian Okoye for the new era. Okoye was a soccer player with little US football game experience. Go straight and bull over people; especially with the trend towards smaller, faster linebackers.
For comparison 6-1, 253lb, 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash, Arm Length: 33.00 inches, Hand Size: 9.75 inches, Bench Press: 21 reps (225 lb), Vertical Leap: 31.0 inches. In the 1990s, the average offensive lineman was 6-foot-4, 300 pounds. |

The Fridge was maybe 250lbs. This guy is 100lbs more and can actually carry the rock with some agility.

I'd take him over Jermon Bushrod.

Found it curious that at the International Players Combine hosted at the Tampa Bay Bucs facility that WR Moritz Böhringer participated...
Would love to get him into camp and let WRs Coach Curtis Johnson put the whoopin' stick to him and turn his career around... |

Re: Huge rugby player has impressive workout for NFL scouts
Is there any video of offensive tackles carrying the rock like this guy? He runs like Earl Campbell and isn't wearing pads. A 6/8" 345 lb running back...talk about wearing out a defense and DBs making buisness decisions. He's faster and outweighs Ndamukong Suh.
