Cooks Traded Again

Rams Receive: Cooks and a 4th

Pats Receive: 1st and 6th.

Per Adam Schefter.

Guess he told BB something or the other to get traded so fast.

Never thought he would fit in NE.

Terrible trade for the Rams. Now they don’t have a 1st or 2nd round pick.

We got over on the Pats IMO. We knew he was not a WR1 but they thought they could get it out of him. They could not. He is good at one thing and not enough size to do much else.

Free agent next year. Bring him back on a one year prove it deal? Lmao.

Pats see much value in this draft. Stacking the deck on picks. Don't blame them either with the orgy of QB's going early. Poor Browns. Going to get duped again.

So our home game against the rams next year will say a lot.

I don't see a lot of greatness in this draft. Thin and unimpressive at several positions.

Smart moves on the Pats again, they are one of the few teams to control up until they get the players they want at least til the 3rd if they want.

Well, it only took Belichick one season to figure out what it took Payton three - trade Cooks and beef up the offensive and defensive lines...

Saints had better stay on program as well - we still need defensive line help and a solution for more than eight games a season at left tackle...

Re: Cooks Traded Again

How did they even trade him? Thought Cooks was a 1 yr deal? Confused as hell. Pats were going to do this regardless of production. No way they were resigning him at that price. They use up and toss out WR's and RB's like the weather. Meanwhile we are holding on to a 29 yr old RB...meh...I like Ingram but geez, get something for him right now! in less than 24 months he is outta here.

Cooks was a first round pick, exercised the fifth year option per CBA...Rams already planned to extend him, established before the trade was closed...

It's Belichick's world, he owns it, and the league is still trying to catch up like a prop-lane to a jet fighter...

Payton/Loomis are stubborn in changing their carefree personnel ways, but Ireland seems to be a positive influence...

It may be wishful thinking, but we may one day actually start to get compensatory picks, well, maybe...

We'd have to get an early Day 2 pick for him; I'd consider it, but there is serious risk...

Cam Jordan would lose his drinking buddy - serious boudéing; also, run the risk of RB attrition like the Seattle playoff game where we couldn't eat the clock...

As close as we are, don't know that we screw with what's working; both RBs stayed strong the entire season sharing workload - that chemistry is rare...

Ian Rapoport
@RapSheet
One more note on Brandin Cooks: #Rams are getting an incredibly productive WR who Sean McVay has coveted. But #Patriots didn’t see him as a true No. 1 for them... and from what I understand, Tom Brady is not sad about this move. Despite his numbers, Cooks wasn’t a great fit.
7:23 AM · Apr 4, 2018

That’s pretty telling. In back to back years two elite QB’s were ok with trading him.

The Lambs better win it all but I see all of these FA personnel moves blow up in their face. Can you imagine that locker room if they start losing?? Will Goff rally the troops? Or Suh or Talib or Marcus Peters? Boy ... Remember the "Philly Dream Team" back in the day?

As for Cooks, he's only 24 or so & can't cement his place on a team. When was the last time that has happened at the WR spot? Something definitely isn't right with him.

Philly tried that once with what they thought were nuttin' but all stars... they forgot about the team concept.

Early prediction is that they fall back. There is also more game film on them now.

The Rams were building towards a consistent winner. I feel like they are falling into the hole of trying to win now by sacrificing the future. We sort of did the same thing several years back and it bit us in the ass as we accumulated enough dead money to fix poverty. The Rams will regret this tactic just as we did. They are going to end up cap stressed and be forced to let go of players they don't want to.

The Rams are absolutely loaded this year. They have had one of the best offseasons I have ever seen.

On paper, yes.

Match-ups as it stands today (I know it's early BUT) ...

Lattimore vs Cooks
PRob vs Kupp
Coleman vs Tyler Higgbee
Marcus Williams vs X ...

I like my chances in the dome with that secondary. Rams still hadn't addressed the loss of Alex Olgetree in the middle. Keep an eye on Goff. More tape on him now & good defensive coordinators will expose his weaknesses.

Philly just signed 3 big name players that year. The Rams have signed big players along with several other more than solid players. They have addressed every need they had and the draft is yet to come.
They are going to be tough. I knew the Eagles were going to implode the second they signed Rodgers.

Agreed. But I think the Saints are absolutely loaded too. Maybe not as many big name guys, but I'll take us over the Rams in a dog fight right now. Mostly because of Payton, Brees & Co and our defensive playmakers.

Suh was a good pick up for LA. But he's only a great one because of who he's playing next to. I don't remember Suh having much of an impact last year when we beat Miami.

AND THAT is how you stay on top. Use a player for a year and move him for equal or better value than the initial investment. The Pats NEVER over pay.

About all the Rams need is draft a top WR. Then all our cb.'s will have to stand up.I'm not so sure we don't draft a cb at 27? It will be chest piece moves this season. We also need a plugger for the middle. Rams will have a good run game also.

All the pats got in the saints trade was a one year lease of a slightly above avg wr. Saints spanked BB in that trade. Lucky for him he found an idiot within the Rams organization.

Hopefully we beat Rams in the NFC championship. When they beat us last year everybody and their momma was hurt. They look really good on paper but I still think we are going to be better.

Maybe if we're healthy it won't be a problem. It appears that if there is any crucial injury on defense it hurts our offense if we try the same stuff over and over again.

They already have three decent ones. A fourth is only going to disrupt Woods, Kupp, or even worse, because we know from experience, Cooks.
