Anyway, that was not the point of the post... it was to merely point out that the wonderlic the NFL prospects get is not meant to test intelligence
Yes it is. I listened to an interview with Brown right after he was drafted and the reporters were asking him why he did so poorly on his Wonderlic test and he said it was because it was stuff that had nothing to do with football. He even gave an example that went something like this: Jim is 20 years old. If Mary is 5 years younger than Jim, then Jim gets older...........
So yes its an intelligence test. And yes, Brown is porbably a huge moron. But yes, I\'m glad he\'s on our team because he doesn\'t need to know how old Jim is to dominate Julius Peppers.

I REALLY don\'t care what anyone thinks about the \'wonderic\' test.

We\'ve had this discussion about 500-times over the past few years.

Many articles have been posted concerning about what the \'wonderlic\' test is designed for.

Mr Charlie Wonderlic, in an earlier article, stated that the \'wonderlic\' test is NOT designed to test intelligence.

Furthermore ... there\'s not just ONE wonderlic test. The test is changed depending on what they want to test for.

It\'s basically designed to fit the job the candidate is applying for.

11. In printing an article of 48,000 words, a printer decides to use two sizes of type. Using the larger type, a printed page contains 1,800 words. Using smaller type, a page contains 2,400 words. The article is allotted 21 full pages in a magazine. How many pages must be in smaller type?
Quote:

13. Three individuals form a partnership and agree to divide the profits equally. X invests $9,000, Y invests $7,000, Z invests $4,000. If the profits are $4,800, how much less does X receive than if the profits were divided in proportion to the amount invested?
I will admit that most of these questions are easy, but these two, especially the first one, seem to be questions that would slow someone down...unless I am just a moron and everyone else figured these out without much trouble.

Also, I wonder if the players are allowed to use a calculator when taking this test?

Nah, they\'re not hard. Remember when you were in school, and you were doing homework and tests all the time? Questions like this were fresh in the mind, as opposed to vaguely recalled from 30 years ago. They take a pencial and about 1 minute of time apiece.

They\'re not differential equations. They\'re 6th grade algebra.

Q: everything else being equal, would you rather have a smart quarterback, or a dumb one?

Q: do you believe that wonderlic scores have any value whatsoever as intelligence indicators?

1. smart players in general..you get more out of their talent
2. they measure analytical thought-which could be referred to as common sense or problem solving-so yes, in a way they measure how well you can think...and use your intellegence.

Jammal has a learning disability, similar to dyslexia.

He had to take the ACT untimed out of high school. Count up his Wonderlic score to that...and the fact that the Wonderlic is useless.

THANK YOU. I\'d read that before but wasn\'t sure.

If you have 30 seconds to answer a question, but it takes you 20 seconds to read it as opposed to 10, you are already at a severe disadvantage.

Guy\'s the kid has shown he can play AWESOME football in a great conference against top notch competition. I\'ll take a football guy over a measurab;es guy any day of the week. And this kid even has EVERY measurable you\'d ever want in a RT.
This thread is starting to annoy me. I\'m over it.
