A Look Back at CBS's Analysis of 2017 Saints Draft: Saints Were Losers

Loser:*New Orleans Saints

I'm just confused by what the Saints did with this draft, to be honest. They reportedly wanted to take Patrick Mahomes with the 11th overall pick (Kansas City jumped them in the draft), which is fine, except if they'd done that, then they would have ended up with a backup quarterback and an offensive lineman (Ryan Ramcyzk, who they took at 32).

The Saints*need defensive help.*They came away with*Marshon Lattimore, but I just have an issue giving them credit for being accidental geniuses.*Alvin Kamara*is a potential stud at running back, but they traded up for him and they already have*Mark Ingram*and*Adrian Peterson*on the roster.

Shows just how much tomfoolery many of these reporters are.

Browns picked first for a reason in 2018.

I had expected Pete Frisco to author this dribble of an article.

This just shows you how you cannot just a draft at the time of the draft. The Saints had by far the best draft out of all 32 teams, if not the best in decades.

Do not judge this draft class until they have had a chance to prove what the front office felt they had.

In retrospect we did very well....better than anyone expected. Sometimes we are too quick to judge. Really only time will tell.

They're just educated guesses. There is no way to know. Those 'measurables' do not exist. E'ry body gets so worked up. If it's not random its pretty darn close, which isn't to say there isn't some value in trying to turn the draft into a science. An educated guess is better than an uneducated one, but it's still all but a crapshot.

to be fair, not a lot of posters here felt great about the injured CB, part-time starter at RB, or the unheralded one-year starter lineman either

And I can list you the same posters that will be saying our 2019 draft sucked, as well.
