I know the reference, but any "conspiracy theories" are full of crap. It was a defective relay switch, manufactured by a company out of Chicago, that had been installed a month earlier by Entergy outside the stadium complex to actually prevent a power outage. The trip setting of the part was too low.

The Saints and the Superdome took a public relations hit for that when it wasn't their fault at all. Why even bring it back up again? That was my point. It was an isolated incident. Let it go.

That is correct. Seems like that is the way the NFL wants is going forward. It was the same case for 2023. From what I understand its because of two reasons.

1. With only one city bidding they can work together with the NFL a lot mor to ensure that all requirements are met.

2. To avoid embarrassment and hard feelings for the owner of the team and publicly elected officials for the city with the losing bid.

They changed the host city selection process last year. Multiple cities no longer bid to host against others. The selection committee now selects a single city that they want to be host and asks that city to submit a single "bid" or plan. If for some unforeseen reason they are not satisfied they would move on to their second choice. Both Arizona (2023) and New Orleans (2024) were the first selected under this new process.
