Is Taysom Hill the new Tim Tebow?

Both high character qb's with a strong build, both known for athleticism and running ability. Taysom has some questions about his throwing potential etc, both bring their lunch pails to work.

Would we need to see his jump pass skills first to make a determination?

Big differences

- Hill will play any where you need him to make the team.

- Stronger, faster.

- One was drafted so you have that investment where Hill wasn't drafted HUGE UPSIDE if he ends up being a #2 or even a starter.

Payton is just stroking this kids ego so he can keep him on special teams cheap.

That, or building him up to flip him on the market to get a few of next year's draft picks back.

In all seriousness, let's hope Taysom is nothing like Tebow at the QB position. I'll be frank for a second ...Tim was terribly inaccurate & had a very odd throwing motion. That read option stuff he had so much success with at Florida, won't work at the NFL level.

#9 has spoiled most of us.

He's the QB after Drew Brees and for all that still doesn't believe it I will reserve judgement until his first snap in a regular season game. Get some Taysom

Tell that to Kaepernick and Russell Wilson, RGIII, Tyrod Taylor; coaches just have to be smart about it... Which they weren't with RGIII

Cam Newton is another one... I've even seen Matt Ryan do it once in awhile...

With the exception of Ryan, what do they all have in common? ... all injured frequently. Brady, Manning, Aaron Rodgers are the best quarterbacks the NFL has seen in the past five years, and they don’t have the type of mobility that some of the others have. Rodgers, Tom and Brees have been elite for years due to their ability to read defenses and make all the throws.

At this level, you have to be able to sit back in the pocket and "spin" it.

All of this is so true. Living in Florida and having to endure everyone talking about him as if he was the second coming for so many years and I always said all he could do was run the read option. Also, Urban Liar showed he didn't have a Plan B either. I know this is all spoken like a true Canes fan.

You have mentioned about 50% of these guys that have no career. I wouldn't mind seeing Matt Ryan doing it a bit more as to render the Failclowns more inadequate than they are. Cam does do the read option fairly well, but it costs them dearly as his ego makes him be the option more than he needs to. The majority of those dudes you mentioned are no stranger to injury.

I'm still in a wait and see mode. I've heard all the hype and now we'll see him get some reps. Personally, I'd like to see Savage win the back up job. He's coming off his first contract. So he's still young and when I saw him play before he got hurt I was impressed.
