Klein needs to play better in 2018.

Nick Underhill never disappoints. It’s going to be a sad day when we lose him to ESPN.

True however he did play in 12 games last year but wasn't very productive. I'm simply not as high on him as others.

"Ice up!" & bring it at camp.

Offseason article stated he was injured early and just never recovered - come back strong, finish strong...

But I like that we have Robertson and Stupar on Ready-Five and they both can play all three LB positions...

Looking forward to what these rookie UDFA can bring...

Curious to see if Kikaha can transition back now to SAM or if this is his last days as a Saint...

If only we'd had those coaches since even '09, many outside the building could see Vitt et al wasn't getting it done...

Look at our linebackers with the addition of that guy from the Jets, and you look at our core now verse two years ago. Holy **** what a difference. This has to be the best defense, talent wise, we have had since SP has been here. If people stay healthy we have a real shot at making a push

-Anzalone is athletic. Looked completely like a rookie. And was injured.
-Davis has been productive behind a stellar line.
-Klein was above average and got injured.
-Robertson has been productive from day 1.
-Te'o made plays despite looking average athletically.

While a much better situation than in years past, and certainly not a weakness on the team, the group appears to be just solid. The Dome Patrol's legacy is safe.

Above average? Who Klein? PFF don't always tell the whole story however AJ graded at 37.7 & it showed. He didn't cut it in 2017.

Nolan & company addressed this in FA... hence the signing of Demario Davis @ MLB.

Our defense took a downturn the minute he went down. He was a difference maker.

Difference maker? He did nothing special outside of getting men lined in the right formations pre snap & missed out on several INTS (Davis had 5 INTs last season). Some would argue that Teo & Robertson had a greater "impact" last season in a limited role.

A difference maker is a player who can IMPACT the game on any given play. You know, guys like Lattimore, Marcus Williams and Cam Jordan.

All moot on Klein because Davis is the new man in the middle.

We are going to give Atlanta and the Panthers hell this year. I want someone to punish Jones of Atlanta for the head shot he put on Kamara that never was called. I give Kamara a lot of credit for being able to absorb that hit. Giving Davis that money may have been a mistake if he comes out and is not aggressive someone is going to have to step up our line backers need to be the difference makers this year.

Quick tidbit ... we swept the Panthers in 2017. Home, away AND in the playoffs :bng:.

The great thing about finally having talented LB'ers is we have Mike Nolan who is a real coach to get them ready to succeed on the field and hopefully perform at a high level.

Nolan's list of college/pro linebackers is a Who's Who in the respective HOFs going back to LSU...

We've lost at least five legitimate shots at a title because Sean Payton failed to properly upgrade his staff when DC Gregg Williams (overrated) left town...

Mike Nolan and Ryan Nielsen were huge gets and took this defense to another level; Aaron Glenn may not be ready to be a DC, but he's a terrific DB coach...

There really should give more recognition for Position Coaches of the Year...

Re: Saints Finally Have A Lot Of Options At Linebacker, And That's A Good Thing

SLB (2) 53 - A.J. Klein, 44 - Hau'oli Kikaha, 55 – Jayrone Elliot (RFC)

MLB (3) 56 - DeMario Davis (FA 2018), 51 - Manti Te'o, 54 - Nate Stupar, 58 - Colton Jumper (UDFA)

WLB (2) 47 - Alex Anzalone, 52 - Craig Robertson, 59 - KeShun Freeman (UDFA)

There are four, maybe five linebackers here who'd easily made a Saints roster the previous five, six years who are gone come cut-down day...

Think about that...
